You can go get zero percent on whatever riding lawnmower you want for a few years.

Your monthly payment interest free is less than what you’ll pay weekly to have someone else do it.

Also if I may hijack the OB for just one second. I saw a post on the O-T lounge the other day and was scared to ask the question for fear of getting roasted. For this central Mississippi baw, how in the hell do you say “Pointe Coupe”, I may have misspelled? Is it “poynt coo-PAY”?

25-30 for me. March to the first week in November. Not counting the end of Nov., Dec., Jan., or Feb., or the first part of March for leaf mulching. Might do that a couple of times in that stretch. I have about a 1/4 acre.

It really comes down to what your time is worth to you. I went throw similar exercise before buying my zero turn.

I mow 3-4 times a month May til September. Monthly in the off months.

I have an acre and a lot of trees, edging fricking sucks. I still cut it though because I’d rather pay for the maid service.

I mow my lawn 35-40 times a year. My neighbor has a lawn service cut his on a certain day of the week, but the problem is if its too wet that day, he gets skipped till the following week. This happens often and it looks horrible.

Me on the other hand can mow when it's dry enough no matter the day of the week.

Point Coo-pee. I’m five minutes from the parish line and know more people there than in WBR. All the natives say it that way (that I know).

frick that noise.

I’d say the average is about every 6 days depending on growth, so probably 5 or 6 times a month from April or May thru September or October. I don’t let it get really long, but I’m not cutting it before it needs it.

If you don’t want to violate the 1/3rd rule, you pretty much have to.

Yep. I dont like it either but my St Aug gets to About 7” with me cutting it at 4” if I wait 7-8 days. I try to cut every Thursday and then often on Sunday or Monday when I’m available.

We are on 2.1 acres. House and driveway sidewalks take up 10% of this. I cut once a week for close to 8 months and then probably a total of 8-10 times when it is cooler. So 38-40 or so times a year. Had it cut a few times years ago and the company charged us around $65 just to cut. I don't know what it would cost now.

Bought a 54" commercial Hustler Fastrak with 27HP Kawasaki 5 years ago. Owned 2 2acre lots next to each other a few miles away so I also cut 4 acres every 2 weeks most of the year for 18 months until we sold them. The quote I got to cut 4 acres was like $55 acre with a box blade once a month. I cut it myself.

So.... 5 years @ 40 cuts @ $65 each is $13,000

18 months on the lots - 18 cuts @$220 is $3,960

Total I would have spent based on the $65 home cut price I had 5 years ago is $16,960. I bought the mower for just under $7K. Changed oil about once a year at $25. Same tires are still on it. I use about 3 gallons of gas to cut our yard.

That's just economics. I enjoy doing the yard, getting on the ZTR with my Bose headphones. Takes me a little less than 2 hours to pick up dog shite, weedeat, kill any ant mounds I see, cut and blow the driveway and sidewalks. It is relaxing to me.

Sounds like we're in a similar boat. I cringe every time I see the check my wife makes out to the maid, then I think about another $320 per month on the lawn and I feel like I'm hemorrhaging money that could be going towards a new boat.

you don't need a $5,000 commercial grade zero turn mower for your lawn. You can buy a nice JD (or comparable , reliable brand) riding lawnmower for $2500-$3000. It will pay for itself in < 2 years and last 10+ if you maintain it.

Again, I'm 100% done dealing with gas-powered lawn equipment. Going electric is what's driving up my upfront price point.
