Might not be the greatest, but definitely my favorite. Gives me goosebumps thinking about it.

yeah, guess so, we played them one year when he was here(might have been the season opener,) he was suspended for the first half due to an incident at Mardi Gras in Carencro(fighting with a cop or something like that,) we got way behind to an inferior team(I know, hard to believe anyone was inferior to us back then,) he comes in for the second and takes over, pretty much willing/imposing his will on the Cougs and carried the team on his shoulders to the win

I can't sort out the specifics, but overall you are describing the 1996 season opener against Houston. It was the 1996 Mardi Gras incident, there was a suspension, but it must have been lifted. I can't find where Faulk missed any game that season and he played in the first half against Houston (although the 2nd half was the breakout, of course.) Maybe he was suspended for the first half against NMSU - but we blew them out, so it couldn't have been that to satisfy elements of your memory.

All the elements of your memory have a ring of truth, but I just think you're remembering things in an imperfect way. Now, the stats I'm looking at showing that first quarter TD run by Faulk could be wrong. I actually remember the Mardi Gras incident, the "suspension" and watching the game, but I also remember him fumbling in the first half (he definitely had a key fumble in the second half).

I can't link all the elements into a cohesive story - bottom line.

yeah, I'm sure you're right, there was a suspension of some sort, maybe it was the NMSU game(probably because the hc thought that would be painless ) I was at the Houston game and maybe it's just because of the dominant second half that I'm(erroneously,) recalling that he didn't play the first half?

ETA: just looked it up, he played v. NMSU too, my Alzheimer's must be coming early, article on him says he was suspended for one game, just doesn't say which game

3rd &17 has to be at least #3, after Bluegrass Miracle and Cannon return.

I don't know if any player has ever played a "perfect game"...but that night Clyde came close.

A few of his "great" runs were only for a couple of yards. What made them great is the fact that Bama's shadow staff had obviously picked up on some kind of tell from our offense. Bama knew Clyde was getting the ball, and where he was going with it on more than one play in which Clyde STILL managed to make positive yards from.

I don't know for sure, but I believe the 3rd and 10 play was also "very well scouted" by Bama. Yet, Clyde made the play anyway.

Me too, but I’m taking Cannon for a lot of other reasons. The fact that there was controversy involved eliminates it for me.

I was there but missed the play. It was good but not significant from a national perspective like Cannon’s run.

I think the Earthquake Game is talked about almost as much as Cannon's run.

LSU probably had a lot of those moments but were missed. Cannon’s run was HUGE for a number of reasons.

Great analysis. I always have to remind myself how great Clyde was that game and I shouldn't, because he was the star that day.

I was there as well.

I had an opportunity to talk to Jones about it. He said that they were discussing the play on the sideline and he told Mac something like "We got this" and trotted back onto the field.

I was there for the earthquake game and that was my first semester at LSU.
Also went to the 44-3 whipping Miami put on us in that monsoon. Last year we were good for a while thanks to Archer and Hallman.
