Forcing everyone to switch is ill-advised. Having it as an option is fine. Let people get them if they want them.

What about folks that don’t own a garage and park on the street, like 50% of New Orleans?

Do they run extension cords?

I'm no green freak by any stretch, but the power those things produce at the wheel is exceptional. I'm gonna get that electric f150 after its been in production 2 years. You can put 2 sets of golf clubs under the hood. Gonna be had arse

EV’s don’t bother me. It’s a niche market opportunity I think is cool. If you want one, get one. And the Tesla is a fricking cool machine.

What does bother me is the overarching narrative that they must be the end all be all, and that the combustion should go the way of the dodo bird.

That’s what’s stupid. As you mentioned, it’s not sustainable in the least at this point nor anytime soon.

We didn’t abandon the horse and buggy when the Model-T was created. Nor did we abandon the prop plane when jet engines were created. You let the technology grow organically. The market will do what it will do when you let it live and breathe.

Democrats are stupid in everything they think, believe, and scream about when it comes to economics and how it works with their agendas. It’s pathetic.

Nicely stated.

They are badass.

Don't give a frick about the environmental aspect, but they are awesome. Fast, full tank every day, and low maintenance cost.

Like any car, they don't make sense for everyone, but electric cars are badass.

1. You need a very expensive charger in your house

I don't know of a single EV that doesn't come with a charger.

In the case of Tesla if you want to charge your car to a usable capacity in 8 hours instead of 40 or 50 you must provide a dedicated 240 volt 50 amp circuit which means hiring an electrician, material cost, in some municipalities getting a permit, and buy the $600.00 Tesla wall connector.

Are they charging a fee for those charging stations? If not, who is paying it? And if so, why do I have to pay for gas if you don't have to pay for electricity?

Some of them probably do, and a lot probably charge at work. Some cities are starting to recognize the issue and are working on curbside chargers.

Here are some examples for recharging times: With a single onboard charger plugged into a standard 110-volt outlet, Tesla says you will get 5 miles of range for every hour of charging. From zero to 300 miles would take about 52 hours at that rate.

F-that....
My Tesla charges around 30 miles per hour overnight while I'm sleeping.

While some need or choose to do that, for many it's not necessary. If you get 30-40 miles of charge overnight with the standard charger, that will get most people through the day/week, especially if they charge at work too.

Correct, which is certainly not "very expensive"

As you all get older, you too will realize that change is inevitable, but progress is not.

Or a friend told me: there are two kinds of change - the good kind we all want, and the other kind.

If you charge at home, obviously you pay for the electricity. If you charge at work, I think most places let you do it for free. Public chargers you pay for use, but Tesla for example has "destination charging" where places like restaurants/hotels/etc provide free charging in exchange for your patronage.

Not for me to worry about

That's for you to worry about. Ask your local gas station for free gas, tell em it's not fair that people get to charge for free, I'm sure that'll work out in your favor.

China wants electric cars because they own the World’s lithium.

Gasoline engines do China no good because America is oil independent.

China tells our politicians and industry what to do.

Buys 50k car, can't afford $600 charger.

Decent electric cars aren't for poor people. Go figure.
