I've always been real annoyed for some reason about the assumption people were real dumb just centuries ago.

My personal favorite is "they built this and the wheel wasn't even invented yet". That is a ridiculous statement. If you roll something on a damn log then you have a wheel. Pretty sure the wheel has been around for many 10s of thousands of years in one form or another.

This arrogance and stupidity is why people think aliens built ancient structures.

I think as far as raw intellectual capability, there has not been much change since Homo Sapiens came on the scene.

The great things about humans, though,is they can accumulate information from generation to generation and beyond. Thus, technology and other fields of knowledge are much advanced.

This cycle might repeat. Aliens might be old Earth dwellers who escaped. Life may have been wiped out, and repopulated several times.

Written language may be our greatest invention ever.

With it, we can become immortal. Speak from far beyond the grave. Communicate over vast times and distances, preserve knowledge and pass it on.

Fascinating when you really think about it. We take it for granted, like most things

I think it's very aesthetically pleasing and can I move in?

We have better technology now but make things of worse quality that won't last near as long.

I don't. Look how long it took from the time of man until 1804 when the first steam locomotive was invented. Man either walked or rode a horse for that long period of time to get around on dry land. From 1804 until 1969 was the short time needed to put a man on the moon.
You think that's a difference in intelligence rather than a difference in cumulative knowledge?

It's not like people got that much smarter in that short time. They just had more knowledge to build on.

Brevity can be the soul of wit. But when you are confined to it constantly it tends to dumb down communication

Yeah, you’re heading down a slippery slope there. Thomas Malthus would be proud that his pessimism is alive and well.

In 1788, when he warned us of global famine, there were only one billion people. History has shown that if we solve enough problems, we can figure out a way to sustain the human race. Hopefully, those solutions are humane and peaceful.

Your example is a 13th-century-style castle, and not the Egyptian pyramids from thousands of years earlier?

That's racist.

Egypt tells Elon Musk its pyramids were not built by aliens

It's a touchy subject. Elon Musk can't even joke around about it.

Seems like they’re pretty authentic. They have a stray black dog running around.

Yes. Because there isn’t an informative video series where they are building an actual pyramid using only period specific tech.

And I’m not a particularly big Egyptian history fan.

That's it, I'm going to build a castle! I've waited too long already.

We’re not smarter. They have no idea how to rebuild Notre Dame like they originally built it.
