Grant Fontenot will be shut down for fall ball.

Having an internal brace procedure.. new alternative to Tommy John.

5-7 month intense rehab schedule on deck.

Well I guess we know why he didn't get any action this season now.

He’s thrown in summer ball

But did he get hurt in summer ball or were they hoping to fix it with rest and he had a setback after his summer ball outings?

With our lack of pitching throughout the season I would bet on the latter.

Kelly did a phenomenal job with the talent we had.

Take one of our talented arms and develop another weekend starter or two.

I think Kelly deserves his props for what he did this season. I know our pitching wasn’t out of this world, but Kelly did do a pretty good job with what was available. That being said, I definitely think Wes will be an upgrade and we will have plenty of arms this season.

Thank you. The recruits make sense being in order. I wasn’t sure about the 23 class

He did get Floyd to come on late and FINALLY develop an off-speed pitch. I don’t think anyone else in that bullpen really had “weekend starter” stuff

I think he did okay. Obviously our bullpen was a strength. I just don’t buy the narrative that we didn’t have any talented arms on the staff.

Who do you think had the talent to consistently start though? We literally had no one but Hillard who was a lock.

He managed our bullpen better than our wildest dreams with what we had.

Considering we’re taking just about every SEC viable arm in the portal something tells me we didn’t have as many of those as you seem to think

That’s fair. Never claimed to know.

Was just curious.

And I’m still curious why he was MIA all season when we desperately needed arms.

Floyd, Money, Ryzleman, Gervase, Taylor. There’s no reason we couldn’t develop one of these guys into a consistent weekend starter. All of these guys were highly rated prospects either out of high school or in the portal.

Kelly did fine, and I would have been okay with him continuing.

With that said, I had 3 main gripes. His pitch calling wasn't very good. Jay grabbed the walkie talkie several times. I didn't like the group chosen to extend versus the group chosen for primary bullpen work - Reyz was the best arm, extend him out the shoot - extend Taylor - Gervase was going to be your backend guy. Lastly, it took entirely too long to develop and call secondary pitches. I think alot of my 3 gripes had to do with his unfamiliarity with the arms, so I still would've been fine with him here.

Wes Johnson is on an entirely different level.

Kelly’s biggest issue was an over reliance on pitchers best pitch.

But that’s not that uncommon of a philosophy. Hell Lance Mcullers threw 27 curveballs in a row in a World Series game.

But I do think he leaned on it too heavily and it made the staff predictable.

I can’t complain a bit about what he did with our bullpen. It worked way more often than it had any right to.

And yet we have one of the best pitching coaches in the world coming in and Jay still thinks we need to replace all or most of them.

That tells me Jay doesn’t blame Kelly for their lack of development
