Dealership Service Center Sabotage

How much do you trust a car dealerships service center? My gf (no pics) likes taking her car back to the dealership for oil changes (which they rape her on) so she can have detailed service reports from dealer for resale.
The last time she takes it in for a change, she starts having A/C trouble which she let them fix - $800 This time she takes it in for oil change and 2 weeks later the vehicle is running like shite and she’s getting a “charging system” alarm on the screen. Of course she’s taking it back to dealership for another screwing.
Anyone else ever encounter this type frickery??

Take the car somewhere else for a second opinion on these things.

I have with a cadillac we used to have but I think it was just coincidence in my case.

Not at all. I’m suing one right now over repairs.

Maybe the service guy likes her.

That's why they call it a STEALERSHIP.

Just remember this - their oil change technicians probably worked at mcdonald's the week before.
Why don't you change it yourself? Good grief.
When I lived up in MD I had to take my Tacoma in for a recall and this old lady who was sitting next to me was in for an oil change when the service rep came in showing her the air filter - they claimed it was dirty and really needed changing at an outrageous price - to which she said she had to call her husband. They were really pressuring her saying how bad it would be and that she also needed injection treatment, etc. The air filter wasn't dirty by any means. And I told her and them that. I can't stand a place trying to scam an old woman.

I had a Cadillac that gave me issues. I sold it as soon as the warranty expired and bought a used Toyota for reliability. Then two months later the fan blade broke and messed up the whole radiator and cooling system.
I hate cars.

I used to go to the dealer for oil changes and stuff, because they had great coupons and actually had free food and beverages while you waited. They took for freaking ever and always tried to upsell you.
The kicker for me and why I don't use the dealer for anything is they quoted me something insane like $5-6k for a repair on my truck (died and was towed to dealer), and when I refused and told them I had googled the parts myself, they matched my number that was around $2-3k. That's criminal. How many unsuspecting people do they rape every day. I let them have it in the review and vowed to never return, and have not.
My wife has a minivan that has a service deal where she gets oil changes and whatnot if she stays on schedule and uses the dealership. She went the other day and they told her she needed a battery and quoted her +$200. She texted me and I told her no way. She got the bill, and they had changed it anyway, "due to a misunderstanding." They did, however, agree to match the price I got from the parts store. But how many people pay 2x for a battery because they don't ask??
My sister in law was at one of those jiffy lube type places and they told her she needed her rear diff flushed. She called my brother, who advised her that her front wheel drive car had no rear differential.

I wont mention any names but every-time my wife (no pics) took her car in for an oil change (I'm too lazy) they would say her cabin filter needed to be changed. So the next time she was leaving to get an oil change I took the cabin filter out and checked it. It wasn't dirty at all. She came back home and said they had told her it was dirty and had napkins stuck in it that must have came from the glove box that it's behind. I got un-lazy real quick after that and a phone call to them. They tried to tell me the napkin must have gotten in there on her way up. That said i might have been lazy but it was amazingly cheaper to have them do an oil change than if I did it. I opted to do them from then on.

While it's still under warranty? Yes. IDGAF what they find.

Never take a car to the dealership. Those sons of bitches will always find something wrong.. At least tell her to tell them if they find anything that needs to be changed to let her know before they do it because they will replace windshield wipers and charge you more than 2 times what you can get them for at autozone.

Never used the dealerships, they will up sell the shite out of you. My wife (no pics) still goes with hers because she’s having a warranty issue they can’t figure out. They aren’t trying to upsell because they don’t want us coming back.
If she’s worried about a detailed service report for resale (not sure that’s a thing) tel her to use a local trustworthy mechanic. They will provide the same report (when they serviced the vehicle, what they did, mileage…). Do not go to one of the quick service places, bc their records are not that accurate and they upsell too.
Also, write date & mileage on filters. When they show you the dirty filter you can easily point out it’s not yours bc you write in them.

I don't get why anyone would take a car to the stealership for out of warranty work. Indy mechanics are much more trustworthy and better cost-wise.

I think she’s keeping the report of everything they did/receipt so she can show future buyers the service records.
I don’t know because I drive my vehicles till the wheels fall off.
