It’s tough, but if JJ is going to bring in some of his guys, there aren’t roster spots/PT for some of our bubble guys. As long as we hold on to Bianco we will be fine.

If he leaves, I hope he goes back to the Left Coast.

Don't want to face him in the SEC.

Why?
He had a long ways to go.
He hit ordinary pitching, but not in the SEC. His d wasn’t anything to brag about either.
I wish him luck, but we need better.

Trimming the fat

Id prefer we trim the lower hanging fat. But I understand how it goes. He probably wasn't guaranteed a starting spot so he's looking elsewhere for that.

Jack Merrifield 3B from LSUE is coming in too. He was national defensive player of the year and hit .396. Team MVP of their national championship. Will be hard to keep him off the field

Thank you. As I mentioned in the turnover thread, that puts us at 51/40 for next year. We really don't need a lot more to go when you consider the draft. Especially if COVID year guys don't count toward the 40 (assuming any of them stay).

I would prefer he stayed, but he's doing what he feels is best for his future.

He came through with that clutch RBI hit in the regional.

I will always pull for someone who chose LSU, gave it his best, and did it the right way as a person.

Good luck young man. Once a Tiger always a Tiger.

This isn’t someone being processed IMO
Wouldn’t it be a bad look for jj to get here, not watch a single practice and then take his scholarship away about a week into the job .

The more I think about it ,there is no way that happened.if he’s planning on “trimming the fat”, then their would be other players that play middle infield that he would to take a dive into their tape before they got to Arnold

He’s hasn’t had the time to get anywhere close to making those decisions yet. As I keep typing I’m becoming certain that he wasn’t told he’s off scholarship.it’s just not how those things are done, plenty of time to address that but Arnold has till July 1st though. So that tells me that it could be a just in case situation

Yea I would think Cranford would be on the chopping block before Arnold.

Arnold was all but out the door midseason
He played well down the stretch
Like I said earlier expect a handful of LSU players to put their name in the portal
Doesn't mean they are definitely gone
Just gives them time to make their decision
Once you put name in portal LSU can move on though, that's the risk

Safford is another one, off to a terrible start in summer ball, hitting under 100, that's not gonna cut it with the new coach
Will Safford, INF: In 8 games, he’s batting .63 (1 for 16), 3 runs, 1 RBI, 3 stolen bases, 3 strikeouts, 4 walks, 1 error

It also depends on the scholarship situation. I doubt some of those other MIF guys are on scholly (the in state guys I mean).

I think Arnold's been pissed since Paul sat him at the beginning of conference for a guy that couldn't hit himself out of a wet paper bag. Just sour grapes. If Johnson wants him to stay, he'll stay.

That would apply to every player we have, right?

Look at it this way, if PM was still coach he would have to process kids. It’s a numbers game. Kids don’t measure up, New players arrive. Whoever is the coach had to make tough decisions.

Look at Arnold. He got beat out at SS and at second base. DH was the only opening.

It’s in Arnold’s best interest to go where he can be an every day player at a position.

Arnold was an average hitter with decent pop for his size.in the field he’s at the lower end of average
His frame is one that could take some weight and muscle pretty easily
He definitely could have broke out next year though. Isn’t this his second year? He’s the type that would explode sometime over the next two years. He will put on some size and hit 15-18 hrs while batting 310. This will come as a senior who ,by that time ,would have had a ton of at bats and would have put on 15 pounds with some muscle

You hate to miss out on the payoff that’s coming ,after you have put him out their when he may not have been more than average .
That’s a lot of time invested in him

don't they have to enter today to be able to transfer? I doubt all the people who enter it will leave
