I was thinking somewhere around 3 or 4 lessons a week. Also if the guy giving lessons didn’t at least make rookie ball before having tommy John is it even worth it? TIA

3/week plus every weekend travel ball and fall ball starting at 5yr old! Then he’ll have a 2% chance of making pro!

As for as the guy giving lessons, there are a lot of former college players out there who didn't make it in pro ball offering lessons. Don't worry about how much it will cost, just take his advice when he tells you the amount of hours he will need to work with your kid.

In no time you can have all the travel ball teams who are looking to fill up a roster calling you to see if your kid can play.

You will find some grade A coaches in travel ball. Rarely will you see a coach show bias towards his kid.

And remember, travel ball is all about the kids. It a billion dollar industry because most kids who play at least makes it to some level in the pros.

if you’re serious about it I’d advise you to get lilbaw preemptive Tommy John surgery now.

If he hasn’t had Tommy John surgery by now you’re already behind the 8 ball.

Better go two a days now to catch him up.

You got to get that surgery now, even if he doesn't need it. It will add 6-8 mph on that fastball.

You don’t need to sign him up for any. But If your kid enjoys playing and there’s a specific coach he trust and likes going to hitting with then let him go.

I have coached “Travel ball” teams and in my opinion travel baseball is ruining the sport for kids and teaching them nothing about life.

You have coaches that only care about winning a youth tournament. Parents that only care about what little johnny’s batting average is, being able to say he’s a “majors player and think that posting stats and videos at 11 years old is going to get their kid drafted. Hearing a parent/coach talk about his 11 or 12 year olds spin rate or launch angle makes me puke.

It’s a fricking shitty environment these days but with that being said if your kid loves baseball and you enjoy watching him play then do your part and find a team/coach that understands what’s important. Youth baseball can be great experience with the right people. I’ve always put emphasis on learning how to play as team and trusting each other. Being selfless and putting the team above individual stats. How to handle failure/success and wins/losses (don’t fricking yell at a kid/team for making and error or losing a game). How many rings you win in youth baseball doesn’t matter. And above all else enjoying the game and having fun playing it. I see so many kids who look terrified after making one mistake cause badass coach thinks it’s ok to embarrass a kid by yelling and tearing him apart in front of everyone. Those coaches suck and take the fun out of baseball and ruin baseball for the kids.

I had both jakoby’s arms tommy johned when he was 12 so he wouldn’t have little bitch arms like your kid

Doctors here didn’t wanna do it so we went on a “business trip” to the Dominican Republic and they used cadaver tendons from a real good baseball player down there

It is time to get him acquainted with proper cycling. He should have been juicing for at least 18 months now.

I know this is a joke, but we live around a big TB area, and having a kid in HS how many spent so many games 60-90/yr plus the $$$$$ playing ball and they quit. My oldest (SR) has friends over and they played ball, I ask, dude why are you not on the team? WTH same answer, played too much got tired of it and quit. Good athletes, Most play football, basketball and track. Shame to drive your kids that early to have them give up. Oh well to each his own
