It’s still amazing to me that gang shootings and drive-bys are now called mass shootings. Guess that’s what the media is gonna go with to pump up mass shooting numbers so the Dems can try and push more gun control.

The country was under literal lockdown for months.

Of course the data is skewed.

Clearly you do not live here and have not been paying attention. NOPD is greatly understaffed and they are losing more officers each day. New Orleans relies heavily on LA State Police, Levee District Police and surrounding parishes.

Comparative to any of the other city police in the state, nola statistically has more per area patrolled.

I'd argue BRPD is more understaffed than Nola is.

Lafayette hits that threshold just right though.

I would like to propose a major border shakeup for the New Orleans region that would be inevitably beneficial for all:
1. Give Grande Isle to Lafouche Parish
2. Split Jefferson into East and West Jeff
3. Adjust the Plaquemine/East Jeff Border so it follows existing waterways
4. Give all Orleans Parish land west of the river to West Jeff
5. Give Holy Cross and the Lower 9 to St. Bernard where they merge with Arabi to incorporate into a city.
6. Split New Orleans East into its own city/Parish with government completely separated from New Orleans proper.
7. Split St. Charles parish up giving the most of the west bank to West Jeff (including Luling, Boutte, and Des Allemands) and the east bank and the rest of the west (Hahnville and Taft) to St. John

This balance would get The East and lower 9’s crime statistics off of New Orleans’s etat sheet, allow NOPD to focus more on protecting tourist areas, allow the East to focus its revenues on its own crumbling infrastructure, settle the constant bickering over resources between East and West Jeff, provide more adjacent government oversight for Grande Isle, and provide much needed population to St. Bernard to help them be able to afford basic government services.

I'm sure this guy hailed St. Floyd of Fentanyl as a hero and has called for defunding the police at some point.

Police should not respond to calls in blue areas.

So you're saying the city with the highest population in the state has the most police officers per capita?

No, worse, he’s saying that the city with the largest population density in the state has the most officers per square mile

Perhaps, maybe, kinda, like the governor should send in the Guard in to patrol that city at night. Have a 7PM to 5AM curfew each night and arrest anyone out after curfew hours.
We can do the same for Batin Rouge and Shreveporch too.

I think the only answer they want is "white supremacy", but I'm not sure how one shoehorns that square peg into a round hole.

There's maybe a narrow strip of Holy Cross that actually could carry it's own weight, tax-wise. The rest of the lower 9? Not a shot. You would be adding more population and land to St Bernard to cover, and not enough tax revenue to make it work.

Plus... Old Arabi and the rest of Arabi are two completely different places. Old Arabi would be fine forming their own city but they are barely a village, much less a city.
