It is absolutely within the purview of the VP to certify, or refuse to certify, elections if they are conducted fraudulently.

If Mike Pence did anything of the sort that looks like a refusal, the senate would’ve removed Pence from his position through a simple up or down vote and the senate president pro temp, Chuck Grassley, would take over and the certification would proceed as normal as they did in our timeline.

The VP’s role is purely ceremonial and ministerial outside of breaking senate ties.

Mike Pence was never ever going to cross a constitutional red line, no matter how much Donald Trump demanded he do just that.

This is not “overturning an election” and anyone with an IQ higher than room temperature knows this.

The election was over at that point and there was and still is no remedy for redress that would result in Trump being sworn in for a 2nd term.

Best you can do is audit the vote, report your findings, update and strengthen your election administration laws, and run a great candidate 4 years later and that’s it.

This transgender ban thing is REALLY low hanging fruit for Republicans. No serious person agrees with this crap.

You’d be surprised. Transgender folks are constantly trying to trap events into woke banter by saying they can’t compete.

Cycling and Olympics have bowed down for one.

While drug cheating has been a huge focus... as a man you can now use meds to transform your hormones and suddenly..poof..you are a female athlete. People saying the obvious like Desantis get attacked for hating transgenders. They really don’t want to compete and despite claims, there aren’t that many trying to actually compete or being denied. They want attention and to convince you that there are millions just like them. It isn’t about sport.

The NCAA will eventually cave. They’ll lose more money in the long run if they try to stiff arm Florida

There comes a time when principles need to take priority over money. This is one of those times.

Plenty of governors, mayor, and legislators at every level do.

We have to start taking an active stand somewhere. Conservatives and classic liberals and anyone who cares about traditional American values and freedom have been rolling over and accepting things for waaaay too long.

There’s right and there’s wrong. I for one don’t want the NCAA’s dirty arse money if they’re going to come into my city, or state for that matter, and dictate to us what kind of fricking laws we are and are not allowed to have.

Money or not, you have to stand for something. Yes, it might cost you money; yes, it might cost you friends. It does not matter. You cannot give in with these pieces of shite.

Same goes for the MLB, NFL, NBA, PGA, whatever. If you want to come to my city to have an event but I have to change my laws to fit your delicate sensibilities, then frick ya. We don’t need your money that bad.

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, but lose his soul?

I agree. I thought it would be something else, but if the NCAA wants to play woke politics it could be the push to cause the SEC, Big 12, and most of the ACC teams to jump ship. The pussy Woke 10 and Liberal 12 would have to follow the money. DeSantis is the man for standing up to these Marxist dividers.

Meanwhile JBE will sign a bill of the exact opposite and buckle his knees. And then Latoya won’t even let anyone come in the city at full capacity and have to wear masks.

Louisiana politics the biggest the joke in the world. Especially hilarious all the jbe voters on this board

Make no mistake. The Dems, FBI, CIA, MSM and on and on are currently looking for things to try and discredit Desantis. He’s a looming threat because his youth and courage. I for one would love to see GEOTUS pass the torch.

This is equivalent to complaining that the opposing team’s pitcher is grooving 75mph fastballs right over the plate. When they tee it up for you then you need to knock it out of the park.

De Santis has been fantastic. Florida is becoming more conservative and is headed in the right direction.

By opening the economy in Florida up well before blue states, it had an economic impact in the 10s of billions....I think that more than offsets a few softball tournaments.

But then you knew that didnt you. Chalmette, you keep this up and Im gonna put an "I love TEDs" bumper sticker on your car for your drives around town, being a shrimping village that ought to go over just fine.

So this moron thinks Florida should just give in to the grotesque and allow men to compete against women in athletic events because of :GASP: “1st and 2nd round games or baseball regionals of all divisions in all sports”

chalmetteowl everyone. The current dumbest poster on the PT.

Very sad that this is not the baseline Republican position and that we have high ranking republican leaders who are afraid to echo this clear of a take on cultural issues.

My first thought as well. What a stupid bitch. Of all things to "negotiate" on.

As a previous poster said, this is low-hanging fruit for Republicans. There is virtually zero blow-back on this. No republicans support this. You could be Hitler on this issue and no one would care.

The NCAA and bowl sponsors would eat it if they tried to move all of those bowls

The NCAA has nothing to do with college football bowls or the playoffs.

This would affect potentially baseball, basketball and other non-revenue sports.

The NCAA is all bark though. They've been threatening this type of thing for a long time and have never followed through that I am aware of.

To even consider their opinion on this type of tremendous societal issue is moronic.
