Do it! We left Prairieville in 2006 for Tampa. Best decision ever. So much outdoor activities and areas to explore. So much more than just beaches. Honestly, it took me about a year to really fall in love with the area- had to get past the cranky yankee's attitude. It's not the South. Of all our friends made in Tampa, we were the only Southerners.

Do it. You won't regret it. Best decision I've ever made was to move out of Louisiana for Colorado. The quality of life is so much better here.

That part will make your lives harder. Only you will know if the investment is worth it, but little kids with no support system is tough.

I’m not saying don’t do it, but this is the very reason so many choose to stay in LA (or any other place that lacks opportunities). Also, relationships are worth money. With no network, every opportunity you have is at the mercy of LinkedIn and indeed.

The carpetbaggers are ruining Florida. There are better places than Tampa that have more grace and charm. With the amount of litter we have on the roads in Florida you will however feel right at home being from Louisiana.

I love Louisiana as my home state, but taking my family out of there was the best decision I ever made!

Love to visit but happy to live elsewhere.

I have lived in BR for over 40 yrs and had a great childhood and life. Of course there are bad places in the city as there are in any city. I would think any place you choose to move to you will need to research the bad areas to avoid...I know where to avoid

starting all over with no family/friends/job is what prevents most people from making a move...works great for some and bad for others. good luck!

Just be conscious of the city that you are contemplating to go. Tampa is nice, but here in South FL it has become ridiculously expensive. It is nice and all, weather is great and the beach is close. However, a 3/2 townhouse are in the $350-380K range and a 3/3 single family home at $500K in decent condition. Many people are leaving here b/c of this while New Yorkers are coming down.

We did it when my second boy was 1. Wanted a better life than what BR could offer. Picked up and left everything and everyone we knew to move to Charlotte. That was in 2019 and could t be happier with the move. You will not regret it.

Don't think that living to that area will not have any strings attached...

Best decision I made in my life was leaving Louisiana just before turning 30. Career opportunities, dating pool for late 20's in to 30's, new hobbies, better health, and an overall much better quality of life ensued

Florida is really cool! There is a lot of disfunction in the central parts that are landlocked and not near the water but there is a lot of culture (Cuban, Jamaican, Puerto Rican) there and things are very nice. Many of the richest people in the USA live there and its not uncommon to just be out and about in the main cities and see Ferrari's and whatnot; something that is fairly rare in Baton Rouge.

Louisiana is one of the few states that often loses population in census updates. Many reasons why especially when right over their border you can go in and get almost double the pay for the same job. There's lots to love about Louisiana but it's a huge list of everything not to do. If you want to see a good example of everything not to do Louisiana is the place to be. Once the shining jewel of the country now it's in shambles like New Orleans. People keep letting horrible leaders make it worse too. I would uproot and move out of Louisiana if I was you.

I thought about moving out recently due to my family but I moved to the Northshore which is probably the only place in LA I'd live right now. It's not too bad there but even now I'm starting to second guess. We want to sell and get another house but the market is about to pop and collapse so we may just hold out here a little longer. I'm thinking if we do sell and move this time it will be out of the state because even some areas in the Northshore are getting bad.

After college I moved to Dallas for a few years and liked it, then moved to ATL and spent way too many years there and would never move back. Been to Tampa multiple times and enjoyed it. We moved to Santa Fe 6 months ago and really enjoy it. 7k+ altitude, low humidity, lot of outdoor activities, food is excellent, not crowded like CO has become, etc. 74 degrees and sub-10% humidity today, it's nice going outside and not immediately start sweating like LA. Plenty of better places to live than Lake Chuck that don't have oppressive heat/humidity and hurricanes. Surely you would enjoy Tampa better than LC although you couldn't pay me to live in the SE US again.

If you can get a job there that affords a decent place to live out there, move and embrace it. You’ll probably never want to come back.

I moved to Florida 17 years ago for grad school. I loved north Florida and wasn’t crazy about south Florida at first. I’ve acclimated over the last decade though.

It’s exponentially better than anywhere in Louisiana and I could never imagine moving back. You will be absolutely amazed at how competently things are run compared to Louisiana.

That's exactly where I would move to and had a friend that once lived there and had a chance to see how it was. Very nice place
