Thinking of moving out of Louisiana and to the Tampa area.

I’ve lived in the Lake Charles area near my whole life, and it is becoming a major shite hole. I know we’ve suffered back to back hurricanes, but it’s really becoming slum ville and I really don’t see it recouping to what it once was.
With that said, my first born will be here in August and I want him to experience a good life and not have to live in such a miserable place, anyone else make a move out of Louisiana lately? We’re just kind of nervous about uprooting and moving away from all of family looking for new jobs etc, but still excited about a new journey!

Tampa is a much nicer place to raise a family than SOLA. Plus it's a 2 hour flight away. Go!! I would leave tomorrow but my wife ain't leaving her family. Maybe Boo Krewe will go with you to keep you company.

Sorry man, has nothing to do with loyalty. I love My family friends LSU and state, but it’s just hard to live here anymore. Not much opportunity left...

Life is too short to live in Louisiana. Down vote away but living and raising a family in East TN has me wondering why anyone would willingly suffer through that shithole

In hindsight we probably should have moved when the kids were younger. Our youngest starts HS in August and it almost seems cruel to do it now, particularly when we won't be ready this summer. Might as well wait 4 years at this point.

I say leave. There is more to life than slumming it in Louisiana. Love my state but I chucked the deuces as soon as I graduated college and haven't looked back. Yeah being away from family is hard but you get use to it. Good luck

I left a long time ago now and it doesn’t really feel like I left. Everything I did in Louisiana, I still do. From cooking to fishing and hunting to attending LSU games.

Do it while your kids are young and parents are in good health. I've always wanted to live away but never did and now I'm kind regretting it. My wife and I parents are up in age and my kids are in HS. Kinda hard to do that now.

I agree man. I just took a recent trip to NOLa and I’m like damn, this is our biggest attraction of a city smh. It’s a shame. As much as I love Louisiana and the people, this place is not very fun. Just miserable people and casinos

Contemplating making a move myself. Don’t really have a place in mind yet. My job is going to WFH so I am considering maybe AirBnBing a few places to check out.

This seems to be a very common theme for a lot of childhood friends that are constantly talking about leaving Louisiana and yet after 25 years they are still talking about it but still living in LA.
