Tenet. What an awful movie....

We're going to have a shite load of Tenet threads for the next week, aren't we?

Most people hate the movie because they think its confusing and paced poorly.

They think this because it starts off all over the place with a bunch of shite you dont understand and then that shite is, at a receding pace, explained/established toward the slower end of the movie.


Thats because not only is the storyline in reverse, but, much like The Prestige is a movie about movies, so is Tenet.

The entire movie is backwards. Including the storytelling and pace.

That's all well and good, and I get it (in the same way that the actual film Adaptation changes as the narrative does)

But here's the thing though: it still sucks. Watching it a second time and knowing what you then know, it still sucks.

Him and Pattinson aren’t the problem in this movie (really none of the cast was). Just how it was shot and scored were the problems and Nolan really getting up his own arse.

THIS!!! I watched first time on a plane with noise cancelling earmuffs and couldn't understand a damn thing. Figured it was the environment. Then watched at home on my expensive surround sound in a dead silent house and ended up turning on Closed Captions. Horrible.

He's not. He has nowhere near the charisma and smootgness and dramatic presence of his father.

And I understand that with most Nolan films outside of Batman, your lead role is going to be very heavy on exposition and low on ranging character study. Bur just take what DiCaprio did with kind of the same role in Inception. He made it into a very compelling character. Washington did none of that. And he is a huge resin why the film feels so dull.

I’ll watch again but start it at the end and watch in reverse. I agree. The movie was not done well and I like Nolan’s films. This was not one of his better films.
