Awesome. It would be even better if people were allowed to grow their own.

find it interesting how this board bashes the loons on the west coast who did this yrs ago, and so many think that this is a good idea. Slippery slope towards being worse off.

I'll just keep repeating for the idiots like you.

No one is moving to LA because we legalize it. The people that smoke weed in this state are already here and already buy it from those states, or grow it.

Do you think a bunch of homeless living in socal are coming for the swamps of Louisiana?

That isn't the argument to make, "just a plant." Cigarettes are plants. Mushrooms are just fungi. Opium is from a plant. Cocaine as well.

We also put tar, nicotine and hundreds of other dangerous chemicals in it along with the tobacco.

Cigarettes are most definitely not just a plant.

The others you listed are fair points.

Nicotine is a naturally occurring chemical in tobacco. Tar is the result of burning the tobacco. Tar occurs in burned Marijuana as well.

Northshore lawmaker has proposed a ballot measure that would ask Louisiana voters to decide on legalizing marijuana use for adults – and not just for medical reasons. House Bill 524, sponsored by State Rep. Richard Nelson, R-Mandeville, would put the measure on the Nov. 8, 2022, ballot. It’s one of few bills Nelson filed to address the potential legalization of adult-use marijuana in the state

Baw you got that right. Them and LDAA too I'm sure....district attorneys association. I don't know any specific numbers, but I would guess that low level marijuana offenses and the fines that result are ultimately a notable contribution to all of their operating accounts.

Yep

And weed is not some healthy panacea that people make it out to be.
A few of the negative health impacts-
Heart attacks, stroke, lung damage, disorientation, confusion, physical impairment, memory impairment, brain damage for developing brains.

But legalization ought not be hard to justify since there are a lot of substances that are legal and unhealthy.

Fun fact:
Ballot initiatives has been the only way legalized recreational weed has been put in place. No legislature has voluntarily passed the measure.

Kids can get weed.

If legal weed is easier for kids to get it means they don’t have to be exposed to a black market.

This is not true. There is still a lot of black market weed in CO & CA.

Kids shouldn’t be smoking weed anyway. Read up on that.

Another Fun Fact. Vermont legalized weed through legislative action, not a voter ballot initiative.

I think it should be legalized because i consider myself conservative and see no sound rationale for the government’s prohibition.

That said the people who sell weed as being some sort of sunshine and rainbows elixir are morons. It’s a mind altering drug and one that has gotten progressively stronger. It’s not healthy or good for you.

That said it is fun and to each his own.
