LSU basketball needs to be a consistent NCAA tourney team with a winnng spirit. Program declined over a 30 year period. Start winning again. NCAA almost yearly. Fans will return

Win a national championship! We have had way too much talent come through this program over the years and we don't even sniff a championship. This years team might be top 5 most talented teams we have ever had at LSU and I would be shocked if we get past Michigan tonight.

It already is.

College baseball has become a shite product that only ignorant rednecks follow.

Basketball IS and always has been bigger than baseball at LSU.

Now for the knuckledraggers, this is important, so read carefully. I'm talking about when basketball and baseball are playing at a high level, basketball is IMMEASURABLY more popular at LSU than baseball is.

Our fans latch on to baseball so tight because we used to be "the Duke of college baseball", as if that means jack shite 50 feet outside of BR.

You are sadly mistaken. LSU baseball is a national brand. They have fans that have never stepped foot in Louisiana, much less Baton Rouge. Sure, those fans jumped on during the Skip era, but they're still there and wrangled others along the way. LSU basketball is nowehere near that in reach and dedication, and it will take a lot to get there.

Also basketball sucks, so there's that

so you'd prefer to watch a game where, nearly the entire game, every player stands in the same location and watches a guy in the same spot throw a ball to another guy crouching in the same spot, and the ball isn't even put in play? And when it is put in play, it usually involves one fielder and one runner, and the rest of the players watch.

Look, I like that LSU baseball is successful and I do watch the CWS when we're there (although it was far more palatable years ago with aluminum bats and there was a ton of offense). But baseball, in general, is a summertime chill event, where people go to eat a dog, drink a beer, and chat with their buddies.

An exciting sporting event, it is not.

not to mention that college baseball is only popular at a handful of southern schools. College basketball is popular nationally at mainly all schools. Basketball is a bigger money maker at all schools.

Just wow!!!! There are thousands of people who watch college basketball for every ONE person that watches college baseball.

How many offices run a tournament bracket for college motherFlucking ( not a cussword) baseball??

EVERY OFFICE in the free world runs a march madness bracket contest.

"Uh, Lenny boudreaux, I'm having trouble with the feed for the critically important baseball game battle against vanderbilt tonight for first seed in the SEC tournament. It's sposed to be on espn lgbty+ or something or other streaming format-help me out."

Almost all LSU basketball games, AND EVERY CONFERENCE AND POSTSEASON GAME is on a reliable, gomer pyle could find channel.

I explained why we cajuns have the "baseball is such a beautiful, special game" attitude. It's because we used to be able to hang our hat on being the duke blue devils of college baseball.

I've lived in VB, VA since 1980 after growing up in BR. Trust me, statistically NOBODY cares about college baseball. When LSU is elite in basketball (and I've seen it) that baseball interest is dwarfed by basketball.

Will Wade has only coached one tournament game and some basketball fans want a statue of him.

Here are some of his accomplishments in 4 years after taking over a team that won 2 conference games and was completely torn down and rebuilt.

Conference championship
Sweet 16 (it's his team regardless)
Most conference wins the last 3 years
Only team to get the double bye last 3 years
Only team to win 10 conference games last 3 years

From The Advocate this morning...
quote:

With its 76-61 NCAA tournament first-round win over St. Bonaventure on Saturday, LSU did something no Tigers team had done in the past three-plus decades.

It’s the first time LSU avoided being a dreaded one-and-done in the tournament in two consecutive years since 1986 and '87.

quote:

A victory against No. 1 East seed Michigan on Monday night in Lucas Oil Stadium would be the 20th this season for Will Wade’s team, which improved to 19-9 in taking care of St. Bonaventure.

The aforementioned 2019 team was 28-7 and LSU went 21-10 a year ago before the postseason was abruptly canceled without the Tigers playing a game in the Southeastern Conference or NCAA tournaments.

LSU last had three consecutive 20-win seasons under Dale Brown when, he strung together five in a row from 1989-93.

He's doing things that haven't been done at LSU in decades and he's doing it at a time that the conference is actually competing on a national scale.

LSU basketball is more popular than LSU baseball because alot of people watch college basketball and they do bracket contests for it? That's horrible logic.

It already is more popular than baseball. Open the stadiums to full capacity and you’d see. College baseball can’t match college basketball at any school when the teams are close to the same quality. LSU in the elite 8 would draw way higher ratings in La that LSU in the CWS.
The only reason baseball is as big as it is here is because LSU dominated it for over a decade.

His point is that it’s a natural thing that if lay basketball is solid it will be more popular because of the pervasiveness of college basketball coverage relative to college baseball for the average sports fan.

People who aren’t sports fans know March madness is going on.

It will only be natural to pick up a higher amount of sidewalk fans if the program is consistent making the tourney

I'd say it's already heading that way. Baseball is losing popularity pretty steadily

Crowds are nothing like they used to be. Pre covid most games were half filled at best even though they sell over 10k tickets

All the old folks who were only LSU baseball fans are probably dying off

And I would agree with that but we're far from there. LSU baseball is still more popular across the country than LSU basketball. I think the Wade scandal has helped put extra eyes on the program. It would also help to have a memorable run in March, which could start today by ousting a #1 seed (or really just putting on a fun show today).

that's a fallacy that exists more on this board than anywhere else, nobody outside of LSU homers gives two shits about LSU baseball
