The suspension might just be to get their orders straight before termination you have to think

It would be indefinite not finite. There’s no more open investigation. If they were getting canned, it would have happened today.

I’ll read the report before passing judgement on the decision but the only way those two were allowed to keep their job is if they were following orders off the record, and have agreed to fall on a particularly dull sword.

Both of them are extremely nice people , but it’s amazing they have jobs after this report.

Ausberry reportedly makes $511,000/year. If he loses one months salary, he "only" makes $468,417 this year but gets a one month vacation.

Regardless of whether the Title IX people at LSU would have screwed it up or not, Ausberry had a clear duty to report under Title IX. It makes no sense to keep an employee making half a million dollars a year after such a massive screw up.

Assistant AD Miriam Segar also suspended without pay for 21 days.

Maybe she should have paid less attention to a football player smoking a joint, and more attention to female athletes being raped.

Just a thought.

She reminds me of the med school dean in "Promising Young Woman"

This is NOT gonna put out fires.
It may start some new ones.
Everybody seems to like Verge, but decisions like this will come back to haunt us. There has to be accountability.

Either way this is bullshite. LSU does not take rape serious and this proves it. I love Verge but he should be fired no questions asked. THIS IS frickING bullshite!!!

It’s clear from the statements by the Schneider guy that basically their conclusion was that the higher ups put them in position to fail and there were murky policies for reporting and potential discipline for not reporting.

While that might apply to some staffers... Verge is very much a "higher up". If he didn't have the authority to make these decisions, he sure as hell had the authority to tell others about the problem and/or walk away.

they can always term later based on additional information, but:

if they term before they have all ducks in a row....

edit: you have a point about indefinite vs actual listed days suspended.

That being said, I am hopeful the school does the right and just thing in sending these two down the road

ETA: She has to have something over someone high up at LSU to still keep her job

Could it be involved with the pictures JJ had of CLM that allowed him to keep his job ? Those pictures don't seem near so far fetched now.
