We just added 2 amazing freshman. Sage Ryan is definitely a day 1 starter. Derrick Davis will push for some playing time as well. We should be fine.

Pretty bold to say day 1 starter. I know Sage didn’t play much defense at LCA this year. Davis is an EE and is apparently turning heads so I could actually see him getting significant playing time at safety maybe even sooner than Sage.

To be honest,I dont think it would hurt to get another linebacker besides jones. What if the juco guy isnt ready and clark stays the same as this year . Then you only have baskerville and Mike Jones besides guys that didnt play like sampah and white. Maybe a tight end would help if hes a good blocker and decent receiver.

The TE position lacks experience and depth. Of course it depends on how the new OC and passing game coordinator intend to use the position but an addition there wouldn’t be out of the question.

Yea, you take the Tennessee transfer lb if he wants in. He has a ton of upside and played pretty well for them

Save it, unless it's a Joe Burrow out there.

I trust the staff to assess the roster and the portal, and get what we NEED.

There will be better players to come through.

Only player i would take as of now is the usc linebacker or one of the tenn players.

I would take a safety or te. If you see one who you feel good about. I just don’t think Hampton and Harris have it. Maybe Jones can turn them around. Sage is being looked at as the nickel guy. I don’t know about trusting a true freshman to play day one starter. Te we are just short on numbers. Taylor is good. But beyond him we have a former baseball player or true freshman.

Wait till end of spring. We may lose more to the transfer portal. Need to hold it in case our numbers get too low in one area.

If we can get the middle linebacker from USC, I'd suggest he's a take. Could allow us more flexibility to flex to a 3-4 when needed [presuming Strong is all that we hope him to be].

If we can make the playoffs in 2021, I think that will have more impact to benefit LSU long-term than holding out one extra scholarship for the 2022 class. Get past any arguments "that 2019 was a one-off" and suddenly the level of talent will be next-level where you don't need a 26th scholarship.

We brought in the #1 and #2 safety in this year’s class. Those guys don’t sit a year. Worst case scenario Harris or Hampton will hold serve until they’re ready to go. Delpit and Adams came in and played almost immediately, I’d expect the same thing from Sage.

And going much further back, Laron Landry started like 10 games as a true freshman on a team that won a natty. Eric Reid played 13 games with 3 starts as a true frosh. Even Mo got some solid reps in 2019 season (13 games, 1 start with Delpit out). We have a pretty good history of getting early production from top flight safety recruits.

Briason Mays, OL, West Virginia: Mays is a versatile piece along the offensive front, starting both at center and offensive tackle in his Mountaineers career. In all, Mays started 11 of the 15 games he played at West Virginia after redshirting during the 2018 season. Versatility is a premium attribute for o-linemen, and Mays will likely be a popular target in the portal as a result.

I think we need a tight end badly. Unfortunately there are no good tight ends in the portal currently available.

I’m sure they could tamper with one like everyone else does.

Maybe a great one will pop after spring

That’s an exaggeration, but we DID bring in the #2 and #4 safety per 24/7 Composite.

I'd say look for an impact TE but if you can't find one save it.

They were #1 and #2 when they committed. Spots changed when 247 updated rankings
