Apple and Google are removing the platforms owned by another company in an anticompetitive way. This is not the same as the platform removing users.

We’ll see that’s not possible for me to create whatever app I want - look what is happening to Parler.

If you want to enforce rules fine, but how why aren’t the rules the same for everyone? Some on the left have posted awful awful stuff and nothing happens.

Let’s have an honest discussion. What are your thoughts on the censorship?

I'm an independent, but here's how I view it...
I absolutely support the 1st amendment...

however, this isn't a 1st amendment issue... this government didn't censor Trump.. Twitter, a private company, working well within their right as a private company, censored him... now, of course, you can argue does left wing stuff not get banned as much as right wing stuff, and of course it doesn't, and any Democrat worth their weight in salt, if they were being honest, would agree... is it fair, maybe not, but I suppose the onus is the right to create their own platform that can go toe to toe with Twitter, Facebook, etc... after all, it IS still a free market, which anyone can try to achieve whatever they put their mind to...

Apple doesn't allow you to sideload apps easily. They have a locked down walled garden and won't change it.

Android is much easier.

There are also other free phone OSes one can load.

You don't have to use the Play store.

You can also simply bookmark a Parler link to your phone if you want and get the same experience if their developers aren't completely effing retarded (but they seem to be, so your mileage may vary).

This has been going on for a long time. They can be unabashedly open about it now.

Joe, Nancy and Chucky love it.
On Nov 10th it was "Cant we all just get along now that the election is over"? They offered an olive branch. They just want trump supporters picking olives for Dem martinis.

Do you think FB pumped MEGA millions into DEMOCRAT election causes to play fair?
Not a chance in hell.
Conscientious Americans have seen this coming and foretold this to the progs. But they dont care. Its what they've hoped for.

I’m an independent as well. In response to the last part of your post, please read into what is happening with Parler right now.

Then a good businessman will find away around using those companies.

Does it take know how and money? Sure. But If I feel like tigerdroppings is unfair to me. I am free to start my own forum.

Good answer. I'm not a fan of censoring at all. I can't go into it because of it(the topic at hand). And you likely get why.

It's not censoring if you're violating a rule, which is the path they are taking.

Twitter is a private company, can’t they do whatever they want?

I find it funny that the same people who supported businesses and government employees refusing to serve gay couples are suddenly up in arms about private companies choosing to not allow people to use their products for political agendas.

I think the social media companies are awful and have contributed greatly to a lot of our current problems by allowing fake news to permeate their platforms and infect gullible Americans with an alternative reality that supports and emboldens right wing extremism and MAGA disinformation campaigns.

That all being said, you gotta draw a line in the sand at some point and after Wednesday's coup attempt that left 4 people dead, the time is now.

If Trump wanted a platform, he shouldn't have repeatedly lied to the American people, robbing them of faith in our fair elections and promoting violence and desperation.

What he did was despicable, anti-American and dies not deserve a platform.

exactly... you don't have to use none of them.. that's one of the great things about America... you have the freedom of choice, and I said, you also have a free market in which to bring about a competitor to what's already out there...

I mean good luck taking on Google, Facebook and Twitter, but you can't say that you don't have the chance/option to try...

Platforms don’t pick and choose who gets to speak.

Publishers do.

So which is it? Is Twitter a platform or a publisher?

The rules are the same for everyone. I got suspended by twitter recently for calling a fictional character in an online game I play a war villian who should be killed.

Suspended for 12 hours.

It's their playground, they set the rules. If I want to use twitter then I have to accept said rules. That's not censorship, that's a private company deciding on who they get's to use their service.

Surely this crowd, many of whom defended a certain baker a few years ago, agrees with this.
