Apparently there’s some legs to this.

Every year Corey does this to us.

If this is the price to pay to keep him happy and only a DB coach, I'm fine with it.

Does anyone know or have they heard him say that he wants to be a D Coordinator? I would assume he has aspirations above Recruiting Coordinator and DB coach, but then again, he may be happy with those responsibilities and a bump in pay every year or two. He may be our Brent Venables. We’ve seen Brent turn down the opportunity to be the head man and we’ve also seen Corey turn down jobs elsewhere as well.

I’ve seen people ask this many times but I’ve never actually seen an answer. It’s possible I missed it or no one knows.

LSU had this guy for a bargain for 90% of his time at LSU so yeah.

At some point he’s gotta stop this.

Literally three years in a row. He has done this for a pay bump.

At some point you call him on his bluff. Especially a year after the secondary was trash and the AD revenue is down.

Do you love LSU or not?

Based on what? Raymond has been paid market rates.

That’s horseshite. We don’t know if he’s leveraging anything. Do you not entertain conversations with another company that wants to pay you a lot more?

Would you do the same for your job? Look, I’m all for Raymond taking a small home team discount, but if someone’s willing to pay him $800k, then we need to offer to match or very close to it. If the market will pay it, then he’s worth it.

What has he done to show he craves being a DC or HC?

His actions say he is quite happy at home and in his current role.

Only reason we think we have a chance is bc of all the rumors about trouble on the horizon for y’all. If that’s the typical message board bs that surrounds these situations then I’m sure he’s just grabbing some more money from y’all.

No the implications are legit but I'm not sure how that relates to Raymond. If it's bad enough where O gets canned I can see it being an issue for him. I don't think Raymond has any implication in the allegations. Seems more like Joseph and O thing there.

Unless the investigation turns up more than USA Today in their year long odyssey, O isn’t going anywhere. If Woodward wanted to dump him using what was already out there, we wouldn’t be firing and hiring coaches right now. We’d be doing what UT just did to kneecap Pruitt.

He maybe be talking about the Beckham trouble too which is another issue. LSU could be hammered hard by NCAA by that but I seriously doubt it. Usually death penalties come to programs not complying and trying to hide something.

Right. As long as the NCAA isn’t trying to hammer us for Will Wade through the football program, it likely wouldn’t result in much more than we’ve already offered up.

If there were any NCAA implications of Title IX, they would be years away. They are just now getting around to Baylor.

Corey Raymond is not going anywhere

And not to Texas. He just wants something from O (maybe a slight raise, maybe the entire secondary, maybe both).

Not only will Texas have to pay Raymond more than his current $600K contract but also buy out 50% of his remaining contract since Austin is less than 500 miles away from Baton Rouge.

So an $800K contract, another $600K to buy Raymond out of his remaining contract and to hopefully lure the New Iberia native away from his alma mater where he’s coached at going on a decade now

Texas just spent upwards of 25m or so to Dump Herman and was considering making Meyer the top paid coach in CFB if he was willing to sign on. I am not sure that an additional 600k matters much in this discussion.

I wonder if this is more about getting sole control of the DB room and it sorta aligns with the rumor that he has not been 100% happy about it for a while.

No for a DB coach at a downgrade where he'll probably be fired in a few years when they clean house like they do on every coaching staff.

We ain't too far off if you haven't noticed.

Maybe, but I don’t know why any potential sanctions would impact someone like Raymond.

Worst case for him is LSU gets hit with severe sanctions, he rides out his contract for a year or two, then has his pick of DB jobs with a minimum salary of $500K.

His stock isn’t going to sink, and future job opportunities aren’t going disappear if the NCAA comes down on the athletic program.
