Looking at the cousin's tweet, it doesn't sound like the shooting involved police. Like a lot of the country this year, gun violence has been out of control in Dallas and some of it's shittier inner-ring suburbs (including Mesquite).

Sad, and it’ll probably be counted as Covid.

The following sentence literally states that they don’t know if this is true

Yeah, I was mostly relying on the headline and the portion of the story saying that the preliminary investigation indicated that he accidentally shot himself.

ESPN story says it appears he shot himself, but that it was incidental. That doesn't make a lot of sense to me... for you clowns saying the police did this gfy, it says they tried to save his life. Either way RIP, he had a bright future.

He was probably playing with a gun, didn't realize it was loaded or thought the safety was on and it wasn't. Happens all the time to people who don't know how to handle a gun.

Utah RB Ty Jordan has died, the school announced on Saturday.

The Denton Police Department told @Mark_Schlabach: "Following a preliminary investigation, we do believe that this was an accidental shooting, where the victim accidentally shot himself."

Further, the "undeterred violence" this past year has caused a lot of people to get guns for the first time to protect themselves. This in turn could lead to a greater number of accidental shootings as the newcomers are learning to shoot, clean their home defense purchase.

Yep. There are a shite ton of people who own firearms that don't know a damn thing about how to handle them. And this didn't just start this past year.

This is the gun violence problem in the United States that needs to be fixed

More guns per capita in places like Wyoming and North Dakota but not very many senseless murders there compared to most other places.

We don't have a gun problem in America. We have a problem with inner city, ghettos and their celebration of a culture of violence and otherwise being uncivilized and uneducated.

Gun safety used to be taught in school. There are more guns in society than ever yet basic operation is left in the hands of many who have never been taught properly.

I'll say Suicide. His mother died earlier this year after battling cancer. It was Christmas.

I'm not buying the accident story

He accidentally shot himself in the hip. I’m guessing he got unlucky and hit an artery and bled out and died because a hip shot usually isn’t fatal.

You’d be wrong as hell.

I knew Ty and he was a great kid. His football skill speaks for itself, but the world lost a great person today.
