Yeah, it's in a much better area than Cortana but no telling. People don't go to the mall like they used to.

I have a teenaged daughter and I think she's asked me to take her to the mall once maybe. Cortana was our hangout when I was her age.

Williams Sonoma closing after Christmas. 30% off what is left

Bricks and mortar retail was dying before Covid.

There's a Williams Sonoma outlet store in Memphis that's worth a look if you're there, but not worth a special trip. There are usually Ebay sellers there trying to decide what to buy for resale.

That surprised me. I figured they were doing ok. Never saw a lot of people in there but always a few. I bet the rent is Perkins Rowe is pretty steep and Covid has to have all of these stores struggling mightily that depend on foot traffic. I think Z Galleria is closing too. I know that last weekend my BIL bought a couch 25% off and I dealt for two picture 50% off. I think it was a going out of business sale but I may be wrong about that.

I’m old enough to have witnessed the decline of Bon Marche. They had a really good independent computer store there that carried lots of inventory. It’s also where they filmed Pat Shingleton’s game show “We Play Baton Rouge.”

The last time I went, most of the stores were closed and someone turned the thermostat up to about 80°.

Went there yesterday for first time ever. It was a bit mind boggling to pay $250 for a kitchen pot. And that was after the 30% discount. Some things are just beyond explanation I guess.

My parents liked that mall more than Cortana so that's usually where we went. The movie theater survived until I was almost done with HS.

I remember going in there and being 2 of maybe 6 people in the movies and it smelled like weed and cigs. That was in the final days.

Are they moving out or out leaving BR? I wouldn't be surprised if they moved to juban or something. I love their waffle kitchen towels.

waffle kitchen towels.
I get some great (though expensive) kitchen towels from Lee Valley in Canada. They are 100% cotton and dry my hands and will pick up spills very well.

I probably go to the mall.. 2 or 3 times a year. If you call black people shopping there "culcha" then yeah, there are black people shopping there and if that bothers you then, that's a YOU problem.

But if you are talking about poor uneducated blacks who does stupid shite and don't know how to act in public then I haven't really seen it to the point where I was like "OMG! The blacks are taking over. I am not coming back"

I am sure it has to do more with the fact that malls are becoming less popular mainly because people buy shite on the internet and then add on this year with even less people going to the mall..

Some of you people are ignorant.

Shopping? Hmmmm....not so sure about that. The only people that bother me are the Israelis trying to sell me face cream because I’m a prime target.

Cortona closed which was the only other mall in town. That crowd started going to the only mall left. Consumer shopping trends have shifted more to online so a lot of the nicer stores have closed.

I think Perkins Rowe and Towne Center are struggling a bit too.
