quote:

“It’s a big difference,” Pelini said to the LSU Radio Network via The Advertiser. “We have guys that were recruited to play in a 3-4. It’s not exactly the type of personnel you would recruit to play in a 4-3. It’s really foreign to those guys as far as the understanding of linebackers playing off the football. Then your down guys are playing different techniques and gaps, and it takes some time. And it takes some time for us as coaches to learn what your guys can do and what they can’t do.”

However, LSU coach Ed Orgeron doesn’t agree with Pelini’s assessment for a specific reason.

“I don’t think that has a lot to do with it,” Orgeron said during Wednesday’s SEC coaches teleconference, via the The Advertiser. “Because of the fact that most of our mistakes were on explosive passes in the coverage. Now, whether you’re playing a 3-4 or a 4-3, the same coverages can still be run out of both fronts.”

It’s December. This shouldn’t be an issue.

I do to funnily enough. Our linebackers were getting lost in coverage, and our ends weren't setting the edge. That's before you take into account our safeties can't play football lol. They seem to be getting better, and the seem to be understanding their assignments better.

Maybe but Pelini before the season started definitely was saying the switch would be no big deal. Now was coach o making him go 4-3 from the get go? I dunno

As true as it gets. Coach O needs to kick his arse to the curb ASAP.

Coach O needs to eat some humble pie too since success has gone to his dumb coonass head.
He also said the defense wasn’t good under Aranda last year, he’s a dumbass.

Then why not run the 3-4 until you get the right pieces in place to run your preferred defense?

Upvote for using "funnily".

It’s weird that they’re almost both right

LB has been a big issue. Clark hasn’t been able to get out and stop outside runs which have lead to some big plays.

O is also very right. WTF is going on with our busted coverage? Why are all our DBs always fricking up?

There is very little difference between our coverages rushing 4 in a 3-3-5 (3-4 nickel) and a 4-2-5 (4-3 nickel)

Actually Bo was saying that he knew how to run both a 3-4 and a 4-3 and he wouldn’t pigeonhole the team to a 3-4. Ed was pushing for a 4-3 from the offseason stating that we were gonna be switching but he was gonna allow Bo to call the defense.

It’s been a shite show this year and Bo has taken a lot of heat. That being said, I totally agree with you. If I’m trusting one of those guy’s opinion on X’s and O’s, I’m going with Bo.
