I think this kid has a tremendous upside, but the reality is he's the third string QB at the moment. With Brennan returning next year, it doesn't appear anything will change going into next season unless Finley has a major collapse. I really don't want to lose him, but something tells me he's not going to sit around another year hoping to get a shot. Add Nussmeier to the equation and it's going to be a very crowded QB room.

It’s about number 10,000 on my list of things to worry about in 2020.

If Finley continues to improve and it looks like he is the starter following spring ball i can see Brennan transferring this year but I think Max Johnson will stick around for at least one more season.

It's a side-effect I'm willing to live with. Stack your position groups with talent and let the chips fall where they lay. If he gets pushed out because of inferior play I'll wish him the best and ride with who we end up with.

Someone is leaving between this year and next. There’s too much QB talent coming up.

Myles, TJ, Max, Nuss won’t all be here next year.

You really think Brennan would leave? That's interesting. He's waited so long for his chance that I'm thinking he's staying around, but these days you never know. There must really be a big gap between Finley and Johnson because Finley has been given the starting nod every time. I just wish we could get a good look at Johnson playing some real minutes to really assess how good he is.

I think it’s an offensive fit and arm talent thing. TJ slings it confidently across the middle and fits the ball in tight spaces. Max’s best attribute is running and we can’t afford him taking shots as we literally have no other QB’s

This. It's simply just the nature of the position.

Finley is clearly the #1 guy right now for the rest of the season and will get most, if not all, of the snaps in every game here on out as long as he is effective (or covid takes him out for some period of time). At that point you probably go into the spring with a full-fledged QB competition. One that while Brennan will have the edge in years in the program, Finley likely will have MORE starting experience and significant snaps under his belt.

JMO, if Finley wins the starting job going into next season, either Brennan or Johnson will transfer.

Way down on the list of priorities, but LSU is going to lose at least 1 QB and probably another. Just being real, if I had to pick who that would be it'd be Johnson.

It will be interesting to see Finley's progression. There's a ton to like from him, but he is just not nearly as polished as Brennan right now. Finley is still struggling to go through progressions--a lot of blame goes on the OL for that.

Finley has more upside in the talent department and if he starts the rest of the season will be the most experienced QB on the roster going into 2021 in terms of actual playing time.

This is exactly what the coaching staff is telling you with their actions forget what they are actually saying.

If TJ is getting better and better and we have Brennan back, along with the freshmen coming, it would not be a concern.

The job was wide open until sometime last week. Unfortunately Johnson was in quarantine and Finley got all of the reps for three weeks. Just a tough break, kind of like Burrow getting hurt at Ohio State. Johnson will transfer to Oklahoma and win the Heisman in two years.

Brennan is the starter next year and then it'll be between Finley and Garrett Nussmeier.

The biggest concern for him going forward is tightening up his accuracy side to side and touch throws. He’s great throwing lasers into the middle of the field. No issue there.

It is inevitable that one QB leaves when you sign two QBs in the same class

You expected Brennan for two years
With Finley and Johnson competing to replace him - edge to Finley

Who knows with eligibility rules due to covid - my guess is Johnson moves on at some point

Nuss and Howard will be next in line and you can stagger these two and let them compete once Finley moves on

I don't think anyone leaves this early. This year doesn't count and TJ, Max, and Nuss will all be freshmen next year. It's too soon for someone to give up and Myles will only be here one more year.

Brennan is the starter next year

You cannot say this with any certainty right now. he may be but Finley has a real shot to overtake him because of the game reps he is getting right now.

I think it’s guaranteed one of them does. I think we know Brennan needs to be the starter and Nussmeier is coming in also next year. It’s bound to happen but I’m not going to lose sleep on losing a backup QB.
