After what happened to Joe, one play can change all of our expectations. Finley is big & looks tough, but so does every guy who lines up behind center. Johnson & Brennan are both mature guys...they know what injuries can do & they will both be patient...at least thru the spring.

I would still like to at least get the opportunity to see what we have in Max before anointing TJ the successor. Losing Max means losing the #1 TE in the class next year too in his brother and it also means we can’t run any RPO because TJ is slow as molasses. I’m all for the better man winning and deserving the job but in a lost season I hope we get to see both to make the best decision.

TJ slings it confidently across the middle and fits the ball in tight spaces.

While I have been pleasantly surprised by his production at a Freshmen, I don’t find that he is very accurate on out routes and crossing routes. He does throw a nice deep ball though.

Hmm the knock on Finley was that he sucked at the deep ball and Max was better at it.

Guess that narrative has changed?

Should have absolutely zero to do with who plays QB. Absolutely fricking zero.

You seem to be under some weird delusion that you are somehow involved in making the decision. That’s cute.

I’m not promoting or dissuading a narrative. I’m just going by what I have seen.

Yeah max is gone more than likely and I wouldn’t blame him one bit.

Johnson is literally one injury away from being our starter the last 4 games. He’s one suspension or injury away from being second team next season if he doesn’t beat Finley this summer. You people are insane saying he transfers now. He sticks at least another full year and probably stays 3 years because he could leave as a grad transfer then and have only used potential 1 year of eligibility if he redshirts next year since this season doesn’t count.

I'm assuming we're talking about next year. If Brennan is healthy, I don't see how he's not 3rd string at best.

If Finley wins starting job next year it will be another long year.

I still want to see Finley against decent competition. Last time out he didn't look so good. Whereas Max moved the ball and had the only TD drive.

Max was sidelined due to CoVID, giving TJ the snaps in practice. Let's see how both fare against Bama, FLA, and A&M before trying to figure out who might be leaving.

Brennan is the clear starter if healthy. Anyone thinking otherwise is just doing the backup qb is savior thing

Finley was basically facing the second string at Ark.

If he transfers it’s because he was inferior to Finley, so no, I’m not worried. If he has a chance to unseat Finley he’ll stay and compete.
