I'd roll with a Jermaine Jones and Kyle Beckerman midfield every day of the week just for the sheer psychotic nature of it all.

As in his performances for the USMNT? No.

Don't have an opinion on him prior to joining the USMNT.

Insert Larry David unsure.gif

The fact that I gave it a second thought shows the state of our all time XI. I mean decent player, sometimes very good, but all time? Gonna be a no from me dawg.

Likely depends upon how you are setting up your team and what your midfield would look like.

At his best, I don't think we've had another player with quite his skill set do the job as well as he did. But it was a small sample size at his best.

Short answer - yes, he's in mine because he fits with what I would set up for the team.

If we're naming all time best XI because lists are fun, probably not going to be on many of them.

But if I'm going to war, he's the first player I'm taking.

Its probably Reyna/Bradley/Jones

in a defensive formation.

Thats the problem with all time XIs.

In reality you probably remove Jones and roll with reyna/Bradley and then Deuce/Donovan/Pulisic in the attacking midfield

From the Snow-Fro game all the way through the World Cup, Jermaine had this stretch where he was a top 3 player for us. It was like he found an extra gear out of nowhere. Before that, there were questions as to whether he should even be in the XI.

In terms of pure quality and skill, his goal against Portugal is the greatest World Cup goal I've seen from someone in a USMNT shirt.

That was such an awesome moment. I was in a standing room only bar in Houston and the place went absolutely nuts. Then Deuce scored a few minutes later. Unfortunately, the lasting memory will be the dead silence as Ronaldo sent in that perfect cross for the equalizer.

That stroll down memory lane has really made me realize how much has changed in 6 years. Now, the USMNT's ineptitude has left me indifferent and uninterested in the team. Also, standing shoulder to shoulder with strangers in a bar sounds like some far off fantasy.

That will all change in 2 years when we're back in the World Cup.

I really think the team we bring to Qatar is going to surprise some American fans who only watch the US when it's the World Cup.

On paper we should have a team that can compete with everyone but France, Germany, Spain, and maybe England.

I’m concerned that they will be too fricking soft.
