The OP's weight loss journey is a testament to the power of determination and making positive lifestyle changes. It's impressive that you've been steadily working on your health since March '19 and maintaining your progress.

Started off walking what I could. Now I walk a minimum of one hour and four miles everyday. Sometimes more, walked six miles on the chili dogs and fried seafood days.

People seriously do not understand the benefits of walking. My wife and I took a trip to Italy for 2 months over the summer. I started the trip at 183, which IMO is too much for my height (about 5'8 on a good day). We WALKED everywhere. I continued it when I got back at the end of July and I am down to 167 as of yesterday. Just get out and move and don't eat shitty and you will see results. You don't need a fancy gym membership. Nice work man!

Good for you, and I don't disagree with getting out and just moving. However, you absolutely should be doing some form of resistance training. Whether it's body weight, weights at home or at the gym, you need something.

I really probably should, I've still got a few muscles left over from the old athlete days, but could definitely build them back up.

When I was 15 I was very big. Was a fat kid my whole life but I was up to 300lbs at 15…
Had a coach I really looked up to tell me I really needed to lose weight.
From September to June my sophomore of high school I lost 105 pounds.
Felt like a new person. Finally had girls flirting with me and felt like I was a stud!
That stuck for a while and eventually old habits came back around.
Since then I will easily gain 50lbs in a year, maybe keep it for another year and get fed up and drop it all within a year. This has been my cycle since.
I’m currently in the process of dropping weight after gaining for a year.
It’s very frustrating. But I know who I am. And every time I lose a lot of weight and feel good about myself, I know in the back of my head that I’m going to gain it back one day and have to work my arse off to lose it again.

If I’m not losing, I’m gaining. I can’t seem to find the middle ground.

That is seriously inspirational because I always look forward to your dinner pics. I know you eat well and to see that you can eat like that and lose that much weight is a really big deal!! Outstanding work!!

How often did you have what I would consider to be cheat meals? Have you gone three years without pizza or did you allow yourself once a month to indulge? Just curious because I need to do better with my diet.

Not OP, but I lost weight eating pizza and hamburgers weekly. It’s not about taking a day to gorge. It’s portions and keeping the calories in check while still enjoying the things you love from time to time.

We order pizza all the time. I have 2 slices.

I do limit how often I eat fried foods, pizza and things like that. I pretty much avoided them during the initial weight loss period and now try to space them out at five to six week intervals but I've never just deprived myself of anything. We seldom eat out. We just got out of the habit and most of what I eat is either baked, broiled, grilled or cooked on the smoker. I usually eat a light breakfast, seldom eat lunch and the meals that I post are usually my main meal of the day. I tend to not snack but if I do, it's some sort of nut, a piece of fruit or some jerky. I limit sweets but that's never really been difficult for me. I avoid the office freebies when brought in by vendors.

Also, a big part was to get moving and to keep moving. I started walking on the treadmill on May 1, 2019 and have only missed three days since, all at the same time and when I had COVID. I walk at least an hour a day and for at least four miles. Some days I'll do more and have hit eight miles, on occasion. I walk weekends, holidays, birthdays and whatever. When I started, I decided that I would do it everyday that I was healthy because there would be days that I couldn't. I've had a pretty good run. With better health, I'm generally just more active these days even without the treadmill.

It's been what has worked for me. I've managed to maintain my weight at +/- five pounds, or so, since losing the weight. It's been four plus years and has become more habit than chore.

It's really all about finding the path that works for you.

you already know this but those wild swings in weight gain/loss are really not healthy for you. You’d be better off stabilizing at a reasonable weight and maintaining that. You are working your organs to death doing that

Great job Bayou Tiger Fan Too!

At 64 I finally decided I was tired of being "the fat guy in the room" and did pretty much the same as you. Started eating healtheir, smarter, nothing or very little "white" (sugar, rice, potatoes, flour, etc) and walking. I have a nice 3.5 mile trek that has gentle rolling hills and usually takes me 50 - 55 minutes. Yes, I still have a steak, some gumbo, a burger but limit it.
I'm 67 and down 48 pounds and determined to keep it off.

Also. Drink lots of water and stay off diet soda.
