One of the big things to pull from this is skepticism in the comparison of countries.
I tried looking up other countries methodologies but it appears that will be quite time consuming. This article talks about it a little but it is from months ago.

do nursing homes and hospitals report COVID deaths the same way?
I didn’t look at OP’s link but that specific quote is on every weekly nursing home report

You could literally get hit by a bus and it be counted as a COVID death.

I would guess it will be increased (throw out 2020 since it will be an outlier) over the previous 5 years.
That is not all due to covid though. The increase in 'covid cure' deaths will probably offset any decrease that would be seen by covid taking out people who were going to die anyway.

This is brilliant coming from the same crowd that states “people die in car accidents everyday, we don’t stop people from driving cars do we?”.

how did NOLA get away with no COVID deaths for several days in a row?
You mean of the people that died, for whatever reason, in that 7 day period not one of them tested positive for COVID?

You've become a really shitty poster.
Most of the time that indicates home stress. So, I wish you the best.

Covid heard it better not come down here bullying
In reality strictly talking numbers we should average a death every 2-3 days.

Yes. Because everyone in nola has already had it. EBR has only had 14 "covid" deaths in the last 23 days.

Conversely I know older people with those issues and worse that got COVID and lived. You can't say for certain that COVID is the cause simply by its presence.
I can't disagree with you on this. I can, however, at least stomach that more easily as a covid death than someone who died in a car accident.

it was a general statement.

This graph is really all that matters to me.
Now I agree that, ideally, I wouldn’t be lied to about people that died of covid vs WITH it. BUT... at the end of the day, all that really matters is how many died this year vs the typical average of how many usually die in a year. That difference is your number of covid deaths, within a reasonable degree of error.

There is no data to back up what you are saying.
Most estimates put NOLA near 30% at best. And that is a stretch.

right
that was my question
the quote is on the nursing home report, so my question was if nursing homes have a different procedure in reporting than hospitals?
I don't work in these fields so I have no idea if nursing homes don't have the capability or turn around times for autopsies as hospitals and such

well thats right at the herd immunity mark so yes there is data. Not to mention Region 1's stats have been the lowest in the state for 2+ months now.

I would imagine normal daily operations of LDH have been severely affected the past several weeks.

This simply doesn’t happen.

I do COVID numbers daily. We are instructed by the federal government to give them a daily count of all hospitalized patients with confirmed COVID and also a total of all confirmed and suspected COVID (meaning they have COViD symptoms but tests still pending). Not all the patients hospitalized because they have COVID. Those federal numbers are also sent to state level.
So it IS a fact that a person in the hospital with a broken leg, with a positive covid test (asymptomatic), is counted as a covid hospitalization. Such bullshite.
