well thats right at the herd immunity mark so yes there is data.

Does herd immunity even exist given what we are learning about the shortened life of antibodies and the fact that it is contractable multiple times?

Nah, if you are only infecting 30 people a day with a virus that only kills 1% of people or so then you need 3 days to get 100 people for one to die.

Obviously won't always be exact, but that is what NOLA is seeing. Seems like less than 1% right now, but probably the age range testing positive is the reason why.

you work in a nursing home, correct?

if one of your patients got hit by a bus outside, died, and test positive, would he/she be listed as a COVID death?

I realize this is an absurd question but that is the scenario that the OP is implying

So it IS a fact that a person in the hospital with a broken leg, with a positive covid test (asymptomatic), is counted as a covid hospitalization. Such bullshite.

On one side, that person has to be approached with all the same precautions as the most symptomatic individual. On the other side, who is admitted for a broken leg?

When just speaking antibodies it probably doesn't, but reinfection is really really rare.

30% isn't full herd immumity either.

I havent seen much of this. In fact the only real reports ive seen of people getting it a second time it was because they got tested just for studies. They didn't have one symptom and didn't realize they had it again.

I'd be interested to see some data on that though if you have any.

I work in senior living but not a nursing home.

We don’t test dead people.

Was reported earlier this week. Shortened antibody life info has been around a while.

And in many hospitals...that patient has to be admitted to the designated COVID unit. Which requires a lot more resources (PPE, staffing, etc).

Also....we’ve had some patients that were COVID positive and admitted for other stuff initially....that then became symptomatic and needed COVID related treatments during their hospitalization.

Granted, but I would anticipate this will become less rare through the end of the year and beyond.

and yet Trump is getting blamed for all these deaths even with the statement that all deaths with a positive test are being counted in the death count. And this is why we are shut down and in fricking phase “3”. People should be out screaming to just move on with life.

how can ppl downvote good news like "its obvious now that the covid virus isn't a big deal?"

are you so entrenched in your political take on this bullshite virus response that the cognitive dissonance physically hurts?

but when a Democrat opens up it's gonna be OK, right?

Based on what?

There is no proof or indication that reinfection likelyhood will increase.

Doesn’t mean Covid is THE Cause of Death

It is common sense to deduce that reduced antibodies will lead to higher rates of reinfection. The data doesn’t exist yet, I agree.

i know of a construction crew of roughly 120 workers.

85 of them caught the virus in June. they all recovered and they have had zero new cases since then. might just be luck.

If antibodies were the only protection, but they aren't
