I get one on average every 4 years or so.

Would they bring a spare tire to you and attach it to your wheel? I know AAA will only put on a spare that you already have, and if you don’t have one they will tow you to nearest tire facility. I’m not getting a tow for a frikin flat.

My SIL's Sienna has the AWD with run-flats and it doesn't have a spare. Also, run-flats are expensive and a lot of tire places don't carry them in stock.

ETA: They found out the hard way.

Get a tow to replace the tire. Unless you think bringing the rim to the shop to get a tire then bringing it back to the broken down car is faster.

I know how to change a flat, but I'd sure as shite get towed if I'm on the interstate or something like that.

And if it's super hot, possibly then too.

You can buy a spare tire kit on Amazon to fit your vehicle

What exactly are you referring to? So far for the Sienna the only solutions I’ve seen are attaching a spare to a roof basket, which is not that practical, or doing this which I don’t like either:

I taught my wife to drive. As part of teaching I told she will need to change a tire. She said no, so I said do not ever call me if you have a flat. She has spent countless hours waiting on AAA, and I just laugh. If she would have learned how I would go change it for her, but not know.

I have roadside assistance, too. But that's mostly for my wife if I'm out of town or for a genuine emergency.

I can't imagine waiting for help for 5hrs for a flat tire.

Has anyone run into this or bought a car without a spare?

We bought a 2013 Highlander from a Toyota dealership 4 years ago and when we took it home I finally realized it didn't have a spare. Took it back the next day and talked to the sales manager and got a free matching spare rim/tire. They were actually very nice about it. My fault for not noticing something like that.

I've never had to use it myself, but when the wife had to use it a couple times it was never more than about 30-45 minutes.

Usually whatever roadside assistance got there for the car before I could to pick her up.

AWD Sienna?

I just don’t get it. Its major selling point is utility and safety, and they can’t find a way to include room for a spare tire?!

It’s something you don’t think about and shouldn’t have think about when buying a car. I got lucky to catch it before I bought it.

What do you do the 12 hours a day the tire stores are closed?

I’m also seeing a ton of AWD Sienna owners saying the run flats wear out in just 15k miles or so. Just a mess all around.

You can go without runflats if you want. The ride will be better as well.

The last car I bought didn't come with one, so I just bought a cheap wheel and tire to have a full size spare. That was cheaper than the aftermarket donut spare tires that I ran across. I like to take road trips out west, and go through stretches without anything. I figured one of those donut spares wouldn't be good if I did get caught with a flat out in the middle of nowhere and had a decent drive to somewhere I could get the tire patched.

Couple of years ago I had 2 left rear tires torn up by road construction debris in 1 month. (1st was dressed in suit/tie for job interview, 2nd was during 1st week leaving work at new job) No fix-a--flat was plugging them up.

Coulda used the roadside service on my insurance for the 2nd since it DFW metro area, but the 1st was out in rural E. Tx. and would've taken a couple hours for AAA or whatever to even find me, in June, heat, dust, etc..

Run flat tires yo

Are useless if you have a blowout, or sidewall damage. Also, if a run flat has a leak it’s supposed to be changed within a very short distance...but since there is no spare, there is nothing to swap it with.

Had to change a tire coming back from central Texas on I-10.

The shite Jack I had gave under when some truck blew by me. Thank god I wasn’t under my car.

Some baw pulled over with a real jack that happened to be in his truck bed. We nascar’ed it up. He was gone in like 5 minutes, always thankful for that guy who ever he was.
