You can buy a spare tire kit on Amazon to fit your vehicle.
Why give Jeff Bezos your money for another China made product? Also, are you going to wait days with a flat for your repair kit to come in the mail?

A full spare would be expensive,
Why not just add it to the price of the car?

If you don't know how to change a tire/wheel, you don't need to even be behind the steering wheel. It's not exactly rocket science. I mean the owner's manual breaks it down barney-style for you.

Hey you'll find no argument from me here. Maybe the most useful class I took in HS was auto shop, both for acquiring the knowledge on how to fix things and knowing what I'll pay someone else to do. I've changed my own flat tire, flats on company vehicles, and flats for co-worker. I wish more people knew how to do some basic car maintenance but the system's just not set up that way anymore. Using jumper cables, removing a flat & replacing with a spare, hell even replacing wiper blades and air filters have all been regulated to a Don't Need To Know basis.

I gave my Butler a 1000 shares for his Christmas stocking stuffer last year.

Not only can I do all of the above, so can my wife. Her dad wouldn't let her or her sister behind the wheel until they could maintain their vehicles and take care of emergencies.

My SIL's Sienna has the AWD with run-flats and it doesn't have a spare. Also, run-flats are expensive and a lot of tire places don't carry them in stock.

ETA: They found out the hard way.

Sienna's can have a spare. It's located in the middle of the vehicle.

Sienna spare location. Add a spare and tool kit if yours didn't come with it.

taught my wife to drive. As part of teaching I told she will need to change a tire. She said no, so I said do not ever call me if you have a flat. She has spent countless hours waiting on AAA, and I just laugh. If she would have learned how I would go change it for her, but not know.

I taught my wife and kids to never change a flat tire, always use some type of road service. Your life is too valuable to risk getting killed changing tires on the side of the road a couple of feet from moving traffic.

My wife probably couldn't break the lugnuts. The shops usually put them on there tight as hell with the impact.

It's about mileage not expense to the manufacturer.

Since the neighborhood we live in has lots of new construction, we seem to get more than our share of nails. Every time we have to buy a new tire, they charge more to shave it so that it matches the others perfectly.

Edit: that being said, our 2020 Subaru Ascent has a spare

There is so much wrong with this I don't even know where to start.

Let me help you then, you would rather your wife or child change a tire on the roadside with cars and semis driven by distracted drivers on cell phones passing only a couple of feet from them than get road service that cost very little, has warning lights, and other safety equipment allowing your wife or kid to avoid getting killed?

Also, car manufacturers are doing everything to shed a few pounds for fuel mileage.

This is key

what do you gain,an extra mile for every 20 fill ups? I'd rather have the spare.

And then there are people like me. Added winch and bumper, toolbox in bed with a bunch of stuff from tools to jumper cables to 7-800 round of ammo.

Several firarms in truck. All together its 1000# easy. Winch/bumper is probably at least 400#...

Bought a new Cherokee last year while I was going through my divorce to help save money. It has zero spare tire and it came with a air pump you plug into the cigarette lighter.
