Do you not like Jarret Allen? I'm pretty sure KD has labeled him as expendable and a trouble maker.

I think having and developing Allen is repetitive with Hayes plus I still would rather a fully proven Center. Guy is young, has a lot of potential, and I don't not like him personally.
Edit: also I think they value him very highly on their team considering his ability and progression for his contract. They need all the cap they can get and aren't getting a better C for 2-5 million to help compete and save money.

Allen is probably the most important player in the deal to me. I don’t do it without him involved.

Can anyone argue this is a bad return?
Pels in: Dinwiddie, LaVert, Musa, Turner, #7
Pels out: JJ, Jrue, Lonzo, Miller, future 1st

He is a solid pickup but in no way would be the deal breaker in any SG trade involving Jrue or JJ. Plus once again I think they need his skills+ salary to be a contender. DJ gets hurt and you trade your solid #2 guy for SGs and you are in a hole.

You sound like a coach or a GM, not the star player that just got the last coach fired for not starting DJ.

Hopefully that is why Steve Nash can talk some rotational sense into Kyrie/ KD.

He won’t. They brought in Nash because he’s going to do what KD wants.

Not sure where you get 12mil in cap or how that helps us sign FVV @ 20 million?
Well you left out Lonzo that I had going to the Wizards, that's where the cap space comes from.

Edit: and you want to give up a 1st and Wizards walk away with the most assets while giving up the least??
I gave up #13, and got back #19, so i didn't really give it up, i just traded down a bit. I think we'd have to give another first to get Beal, and i'm fine with that.
I think that trade makes every team better.
Nets get their vets.
Wizards get two firsts, top 5 pick on rookie deal in Lonzo, and two young guys in their prime on good deals.
Pelicans get an allstar to grow with Ingram/Zion, a defensive anchor, and the cap space to go get a FA.
If you're able to have the space to get VanVleet, then you essentially traded Jrue/Lonzo/JJ/21 1st, for Beal/Allen/VanVleet (or other FA). I think it'll take that much to get Beal, and i think getting him would make us that much better to be worth it.
I'm not that high on LeVert or Dinwiddie. Yeah i like them but they don't really move the needle for me. I don't value either of them any more so than i do Josh Hart.

He's an antiquated player-type thats about to get an extension.
Im not paying 15+ million to a center thats gonna clog the lane for Zion. Who's winning in 2020s nba basketball with centers that provide zero spacing or ball movement?
The Allen-types are the last players i'd want to invest resources in.

This I don’t understand the Allen love on here. Weird fit and you’re gonna have to pay him in a couple years.

Thats not the case with Zion, obviously. The number one goal for us should be finding guys that fit with Zion and Ingram.
I feel like we're gonna immediately regret paying big money to a guy that stifles, or simply can't be on the court with your franchise player for him to function at his highest level.

Would much love Zubac > Allen if the trade is possible like mentioned in the other thread.

There's a big difference between an nonathletic center who doesn't shoot well, and a center who can't shoot that is an elite finisher.
I explained a few weeks ago what an elite rim runner can do for an offense, and how someone like that is a better floor spacer than someone like Lonzo who does not move at all off the ball, and no team respects from 3 even when he's shooting well b/c they know if they run him off the 3 point line he's worthless, and they'll let him shoot more often than not anyway.
When you have a guy that's an elite rim runner, it causes defenses to collapse. Now what we need to go along with an elite rim runner is a guy that can be a serious threat off that pick to either shoot it or make the alley oop, and i think Ingram is going to continue to get better at it, but i hope we find a PG in FA or the draft that can be that guy too.
It's also not a big deal to have someone clogging the lane a bit when they are a super aggressive offensive rebounder, which is what makes guys like Steven Adam good and able to stay on the court in crunch time. You want to help off Allen and try to block Zion, be my guest. Zion will probably make it anyway, and if he doesn't, then Allen is there for the put back. I'll take a 2 on 1 any day with Zion/Allen against any center in the league. The key here is to make sure we set the right picks/ball movement on the perimeter to get either Zion or Ingram a good open run to the rim to create that 2 on 1.
On top of that, we desperately need a rim protector. Favors was good at it maybe half the time.
Javele
Howard
Kanter
Nerlens
Deandre
Gobert
Robin Lopez
Zubac
Theiss
Capela
Bam
Steven Adams
Whiteside
Mitchel Robinson
Nurkic
All of those guys can't shooot. All of them have good defensive ratings (they are in order by defensive rating, Javele 101, Nurkik 108, while still having a fairly high offensive rating to go with it).
Don't tell me you can't win with centers that can't shoot.
No one said you have to play these guys 40 minutes a game. No one says they have to be on the court the last 2 minutes of a game. All of those guys are important role players on their teams, and almost all of them have a positive +/- (Nurkik/DJ/Robinson). Myles Turner had a negative +/- this year, and he played on a good team.
