Carried one half the time last year,, only chances I had with one were the half I didn’t bring it!!
I’ve killed with a recurve and a lots with a compound bow but never a pistol,,, I will shoot any legal deer with one and be very proud of it when I do.

I did years ago, a Ruger Super Blackhawk SS in .44 mag with a 10.5" barrel. It had a 4x Leupold on it and I took a deer at 75yds with no problem. I think (with a rest) up to about 150 would not have been a problem.

I carried a S&W 629 44 Mag quite a bit. I had good luck near dear trails where you can get a decent shot. 5 total with a nice 8 pointer in Texas.

I recently acquired a really nice model 57 Smith 41 magnum. Gonna try my best this year to take a deer with it. Something I’ve always wanted to do and hopefully I can make it happen.

My barber drank too much one night and his buddies left him at the deer camp the next morning. He ended up shooting one with a .38 when it wandered up close to the camp. The others struck out.

Seen one killed with a .357. Also saw a fricking douche wound two does in the same hunt shooting a glock 19 9mm. There’s a couple guys on YouTube that have done it but there is way too much margin for error in my opinion. Stick to the magnum stuff and practice your shot.

No, but I'll tell my CSB hand gun story.
Late 90s and me and a buddy are riding around drinking beer. No spot light. No rifles. Just listening to music.
Come around the corner of a turn row of a cotton field and there is a big sow and about five 30-40# shoats standing in the road. Maybe 50 yards down the road.
The sow bolts off into the cotton and vanishes. The shoats are confused by the headlights and they're just milling around.
I get my Glock 40 out from under the seat, open the door, get out, and walk to the front of the truck. They don't run. I can barely see them in the bugs and the steam and the weeds and everything. I hold about a foot over their heads and fire a single round. A few pigs scatter, but I can see something still there in the road.
Walk up there and two of them are dead. One is shot into one eye and out of the other eye. Then the slug hit the other one right in the forehead.
Luckiest shot of all time, and I have a witness.
That's it. Thats the story. That's all I've got.

Pretty sure there's a poster here (drawing a blank) that hunts almost exclusively with scoped pistols and has shared some cool stuff.

This for a few deer. Hand loads were good out to 100 yards. Took a couple with a .38 too!

Sounds like mine but I have a Thompson Center scope. I hope to get a deer with it someday.

But, What color was the Ice chest?

I've killed a pile of hogs (none in a trap)with a Beretta 92.
I've cleaned up a deer or two with a pistol, but never been interested in hunting with one.
