Except that your mortgage will now say in forbearance on your credit bureau
Not if the forbearance is due to the Covid pandemic per the CARES Act.

You know somebody that makes less than $847 per week? POOR.

Not to mention the ones getting “Covid vacations”, paid to stay home for 2 weeks because they have a sniffle or headache.
I took advantage of this last month when my daughter was born. Don’t feel bad one bit.

he is in a 6 months mortgage forbearance
He's still getting charged interest, at a minimum. Even if they add those 6 months to the end of the loan he will still have to cover the escrow these 6 months.
However it sounds like he might be getting off better by paying down his credit card debt instead. I don't have an issue with it if the mortgage company allowed it. They should asked for proof he was in need of forbearance.

Scum, absolute scum. Way different than the other guy.

I tried to explain to my sons girlfriend that just because payments are deferred doesn't mean that she should do it. Put that toward principle!

Blame his employer

No, we don't. Sounds like you're bragging about having shady associates.

does interest continue to accrue?
I have no idea. The only thing I said was what about your escroe. He claims his bank paid his accounts when they were due last month. I am guessing the bank will min make him catch his escroe up after he is out of forbearance. That will be thousands right there. Doesn't seem like much of a benefit when you consider that.

It doesn't sound like they are doing anything illegal. Rather, they are simply taking advantage of favorable circumstances by the ridiculous response of the nation/government to this whole thing.
While the decision may be short-sighted in that a job may not be waiting for him after unemployment ceases, it sounds like he taking advantage of a windfall he didn't create. Don't like the decision? Blame the government who made unemployment payments so great it incentivized not working.

Scum, absolute scum. But people will find ways to take advantage of virtually any policy.
God forbid people take advantage of programs from a government that takes their money and taxes them to the hilt without blinking.

Did people who got the 1200 feel bad because higher earners who were ineligible are disproportionately funding the government on their behalf?
I doubt it.
This shite isn't always fair, but especially when it comes to the government - take whatever you can get if you're a generally productive member of society. Those who aren't won't feel bad at all about repeatedly taking it from you.

I mean I wouldn’t brag but it’s not a bad idea to pause mortgage payments for 6 months to knock out credit cards and free up some budget space. Corporations do crafty accounting tricks all the time.
This. Don't blame him. Blame the policies the government put in place to allow people to do this. As has already been stated, the government won't hesitate to screw you over so take whatever advantage they give you.
Dude's trying to do what's best for his family and it doesn't effect you whatsoever.

If a married couple were both collecting $847 a week in unemployment, that would be just over 88K for the year.
That would put their household income greater than what 64% of American households made last year.

I took advantage of it because we had just moved in January and had a baby in May.
I fully intended to begin repaying in September when the program lapsed, and still will regardless of the EO.
People in PSLF programs just got a free 6 months, and I don't think less of them for it.
