Parts of DeRidder have power back already. Downtown and parts of Green Acres that I know of. Green Acres, a subdivision started in the 70s, has underground utilities. They should make it standard for any new development in SWLA.

Question regarding tarps and ins inspectors. I tarped my MIL house ystdy, inspector is coming Sat and has told her we have to remove tarp for inspection. I get that but does anyone know if the whole roof needs to be untarped or just a portion to assess damage?

So it looks like if you are trying to make a claim for expenses incurred due to evacuating the key is to say you had no sewer usage due to no water functioning. I just got off the phone with my adjuster and they haven't denied me (yet) and he told me to get my expenses in order so we can proceed with the claim. I am shooting for them to pay for me staying here for a whole month but I will take what I can get.

No power doesn't count as being uninhabitable and neither does no water unless you say having no water doesn't allow you to poop apparently. I guess it's when you throw in unsanitary conditions that it becomes uninhabitable. Maybe an adjuster here can confirm this for us.

Is the whole roof damaged or just sections of it?

I hope they aren't going to try to offer money for people to patch only which is why they would want to see the whole roof. They did that after Rita at first and we had to argue that the whole roof was compromised due to "lift" even though there was no visible damage.

The east side of roof was missing about 25% of shingles, west side just a handful. Also I was under the impression, as you stated, if lift occurs or gravel is blown off they will pay. I didn’t have to tarp any houses during Rita so I’m not sure how that works. I did have complete replacement roofs approved on two houses after Rita.

They usually want the whole tarp removed but ask him if he will be paying for you to tarp it twice.

That “storm” is nowhere to be found on their next model run. That part of the model run was 15 days away. If it had been 5 days out, I would have been a little concerned.

Can’t come soon enough. Just grilled some burgers and feel like I mowed the yard.

Day seven in the Chuck. It’s been pretty hellish.

But I had a skid steer rip off my garage doors, lift the crushed garage roof, and I drove my golf cart out! Pretty clutch with all the roads closed to vehicles.

Took 6 trees to the roof, and removed 10. Half-arse tarped the house, and planning to gut this weekend. Hopefully all this bs works out.

I was following an 18-wheeler down country club this afternoon and Ole boy ripped a power line off around Nelson elementary and dragged the thing all the way to trinity before realizing what he did...

I’m really sorry for what you and everyone in LC is going through. Just take it one day at a time and focus on small victories and small steps. Eventually you will come out better than before.

Will we need to remove all tarps beforehand? I have taken pictures and video of EVERYTHING. I’m Prom’s wife, btw.
Also, thank you so much for all of your help and information, we can’t tell you how much we appreciate it!!!

Reason as to why I say delete the post. People on the west side of our state don't need crap like that.

It took a few days but we got $500 in FEMA assistance for miscellaneous expenses. If we are qualifying most will qualify
