Trying to expand their fan base is the smart thing to do. Also, Brie Larson would have been an idiot not to use this leverage to ask for as much as possible.
Except they actually shrink it by alienating the fanboys who’ve propped up comic book movies until they became the market leader.
Comic books have been attempting to do the same thing and it’s failing.
Same with Star Wars. The Force isn’t “Female” it’s just The Force.
Danvers is an important character to Marvel. Larson is just so fake it bleeds into her persona on screen.

Isn’t boseman really sick?

If those fanboys are too stupid to recognize they've fallen for and are currently arguing about bullshite from a clickbait article, maybe they're not really the desired demographic.
Also, the demographic you mention is almost exclusively males above the age of 30. How many franchises will it take for you guys to understand that you are not the target demo for tentpole releases?

The Biggest franchise ever are the ones targeted to fanboys.
When they go woke (Star Wars) their
market share drops.
Your logic is faulty.

Why would anyone give in to her demands? (Assuming this isn't click bait) Marvel could replace her and it wouldn't affect the box office of the next CM movie one iota. Does she think people are paying to see her? Take her out of the Marvel franchise and put her in another movie and even Dr. Fauci couldn't complain about social distancing mandates being violated. If there's any truth to this, Marvel should dump her arse in a heartbeat and save millions.

How is Marvel going woke? You do realize your complaints aren't even part of the majority of fanboys right

Screw that gynoterrorist.
I hope she starves in the street.
Tom Holland's Spider-Man & (hopefully) Alison Brie's She-Hulk should be leading the new Avengers lineup.

I have no issue with the pay. If she brings in bigger bucks, she deserves a bigger taste.
Shaping the character... This could be a seriously bad move for the MCU as Brie is a bit too much of a SJW. Depending on how much control she's given she could easily make her character from a strong leader to a feminist chariacture.
Top billing? That's just fricking ego right there. Once she has brought in more money than Hemsworth she could be considered, but not until then.
Already talking about replacing Boseman with a female? This sounds like they are trying to transition into an action movie version of the all-female Ghostbusters reboot or an extended version of the "girl power" moment in Endgame. Most viewers simply aren't interested in that and this could really hurt them in the long run.

Captain Marvel had a bigger box office take than any Thor movie.

title hero set to be positioned as one of the faces of the entire franchise and the next leader of the Avengers going forward
I don't think she has the charisma to fill RDJ or Evans shoes. She's bland and boring. If shes the face of the entire franchise then it's doomed.
Good for her for getting her money though. Top billing is a bit of a stretch over actors who have been around longer and done more.
Boseman being pushed out would be the bigger story and far worse of an idea. He's just coming into the character and hes a big draw to get the black audience into marvel movies. The girl power thing in endgame was cheesy and i don't think an all girl power movie is what fans want. It might work if done right...but they are like 0 for lifetime on girl power movies.

Apparently having only two facial expressions is very lucrative.

Imagine thinking it would be some outrage - or even a minor annoyance - to have ONE all-female-led Avengers-type team movie, after the countless other types of MCU movies that would exist at that point.
It would bomb hard. No one wants this.

If they do pass the Black Panther mantle over to Shuri, then I predict an all women's Avengers movie at some point with her, Captain Marvel, Scarlet Witch, Wasp, and Jane Foster who I believe will take over the Thor mantle after the events of the next Thor movie. I mean, it worked so well for Ghostbusters and Ocean's 8.
I wonder if Elizabeth Olsen would collapse under the weight of trying to carry that movie. Well, and maybe Evangeline Lilly.
The other three characters were either unfunny, uncharismatic, or both. How much of that is from the writing and how much from the actresses is hard to say, but nothing about their previous showings in the MCU would give me hope for that movie being any good.
Shuri suffers from the "no flaws for female characters" issue. She was basically Tony Stark without any character flaws, or those that she did have were praised rather than highlighted as flaws (she comes across as arrogant as Tony, but that is never even seen as a flaw in her character). This MIGHT be because her character was secondary in the movie, but that didn't stop T'Challa from having an amazing arc in an ensemble movie like Civil War. (Which, btw, they so under utilized his acting ability in Black Panther. He was so damned good in Civil War.)
Captain Marvel has the same problem as Shuri, the "no flaws" but magnified because she was the main character in a film. Nothing to overcome, nothing to surpass. Boring.
Jane Foster was just... meh. I could see glimpses of actual acting and charisma, but most of the time it really seemed like the Thor movies were just a paycheck for Natalie Portman so that she could do more artist films. I mean, Natalie Portman has been in two MCU films and three Star Wars films, and her IMDB lists her "best known for" with Black Swan, V for Vendetta, The Professional, and Closer. It really does feel like she prefers making those smaller, indie flicks but does the big movies to make bank.

1. Larson’s character doesn’t bring one iota of the charisma and character embodiment that Evans and Downey Jr. brought.
