So criticisms of an actor’s performance is tantamount to disliking their gender?

Do you fricking libs ever even try to be logical over protected group/victim card?

I dunno, I don't think it's hating girls. Larson is a great actress in her own wheelhouse. But she doesn't really come across as an action star, Captain Marvel is a weird beast. Marvel lacked a Wonder Woman competitor to tie into the movies since the X girls and Sue were tied up. Picked her to "upgrade" to thumb the nose at DC some more and immediately got redesigned badly and helming Civil War II.

So her spending the movie being bland because memory loss sucked. The music trying to do the GotG didn't work. It was just kind of a big mess propped up by girl power advertising and "she's gonna be real important in Endgame, seriously."

Story-wise it's a bigger mess than what happened to the Hulk. As her first appearance after her movie was going from tow truck driver to getting punched out of the script.

There are criticisms of a person's performance where sexism, racism, or other forms of bigotry are definitely the cause.

There are other criticisms because people genuinely feel the performance is bad.

Some are because the person is playing a character the people hate and it extends to them.

Brie did not give much for us to like, and her interviews later on in the process seemed to indicate that she did not have much chemistry or charisma with her co-stars. I've seen her act better in other movies, so at first I thought it was her direction or script that was at fault. Then the interviews seem to indicate that she feels entitled and that we shouldn't criticize her performance because she's a woman (but she didn't insist that Disney cast Captain Marvel as a black woman, which wouldn't even be a character change - there was a black female Captain Marvel many years before there was a white female one).

Other examples can be both Rey and Rose from the Star Wars sequels. I don't knock either actress' performance, because the movies themselves were just plain bad so I presume it was direction and script that really screwed them over. I feel especially bad for the woman who played Rose, and thought this was a HUGE break (getting to be a major character in a Star Wars movie? A lot of people would slap their grandmother in the face for that opportunity), only to be in the most hated Star Wars movie made. Then to have those fans trash her on social media because she was doing what was asked of her.

I love strong female characters, but lot all main characters, they're much more interesting if they go through an actual character arc. Neither Captain Marvel nor Rey go through one, but at least that part isn't really the fault of the actress.

Brie acting like a spoiled kid when a lot of us would have rather seen a Scarlet Witch or, even more so, a Black Widow movie as the first female-led MCU film, makes her performance basically seem to reflect herself in real life. Spoiled, entitled, and overall unpleasant.

Good for Larson for securing the bag, but if Hemsworth is still anywhere near the next Avengers movie, she doesn't deserve top billing.

I'm hearing , in all seriousness, she and Valkyrie are gonna be gay together.

Thor? And all his cis white male privilege can pound sand, as far as Marvel cares.

I think the universe might break if there are scenes with her and Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool basically out "4th-walling" each other.

Congrats. You mentioned a potential illness of a good natured guy who eventually died before his time.

Tragic and sad, yes, but not a surprise. Some of us are tuned in.

No one wants to see C list characters. Marvel’s run is ending. Especially with no more Iron Man, Captain America, or Black Panther.

I wouldn't say it is ending but they have an uphill battle for that reason. They need tl hit out of the park to get that spark back.
