This topic will never get old and sadly reminds me of Animal Farm. All animals are equal but some are more equal than others. We have actually seen some of the concepts in that classic book happen right before our eyes. Schools opening are bad but gathering by the thousands and burning, vandalizing and rioting is good. Funerals are restricted unless its a Democrat then crowds are ok. Bars are bad but casinos are just kosher. And a SCOTUS that ruled against the first amendment free practice of religion while supporting an activity, like gambling, which isn't a constitutional right.

Clown world.

Don't the casinos operate under different laws since they're on a boat? The whole reason they have to be on boats in the first place is because gambling is still against the law on land.

The more I see this picture the more I think I should head over to imdb to see if it's really true. That looks just like JBE.

Walt knew that dude was joking—it’s part of his shtick(which I’m a fan of btw). But he’s been breaking character and drunk/rage posting during all this craziness, so it’s getting harder and harder to tell.

In case you were wondering how much control the mafia has over the state

Pssh. Wrong. Casinos are open b/c 20+% of all gaming revenue goes straight to an education fund to make Louisiana a leader in great public education. Oh the shite we were sold on in 1991.

Mafia payoffs and kickbacks for errybody.

Tax revenue people. This isn't hard to understand. Our government depends on that revenue significantly. Now what they do with it is surely fricked up, but that's Louisiana in a nutshell really.

It is what it is, but let's understand why they are open.

That bullshite doesn't pass the 'smell test' when certain sectors were/are allowed to crumble for the sake of greater good and 'flattening the curve'.

Playing favorites for $$ is exactly why the state entities are getting the shite sued outta them.

The gambling laws in the state is shite.

I remember when Edwin Edwards pushed for the casinos he said all the money the casinos would generate would go to education, I don't think a single penny of casino tax dollars ever went.. But at the time they all had to be on water.

Then you have Harrahs in New Orleans.. On land.. Then all of these truck stop casinos started popping up. I am not sure if this is true, but someone told me not just anyone can open up a truck stop casino, you pretty much need connections in the state capital to get approval to open one up.

Funding isn't what's wrong with our education system. Louisiana spends middle of the road per pupil compared to the other states.

Yet somehow it's incredibly easy to sit at a slot machine and drink beer with a mask on.

Was Harrah's the one that bribed Edwards or was that one of the boats? The Indian casinos are on reservations so they don't count.

Oh I agree. Just laughing at the headlines I can recall from back then. Gaming was heralded as the "Savior of Louisiana Education". Now casinos are only open to keep our state running while private sector continues to crumble.

It was Harrah's(New Orleans land based 'casina') and licenses for boats not in Baton Rouge.

I can name 2 that would have done infinitely better.

David Vitter
Ralph Abraham

And 1 that probably would have bumbled through it similarlg
