Yes...they are.

if you think you can charge patients $20, $50, or $100 for missing or canceling an appt
I work in behavioral health where everything is appointment based. If a client cancels we have no way to bill, which means me and my therapists are sitting there not brining in a single dime.... these charges are justified and necessary. Be more responsible.

These are two different things. Which one did you do?
Exactly. One is reasonable if given far enough ahead.
The other makes OP look like (more of) an a-hole.

And I’ll say this- how many times have you gone to your doctors appt and waited 30 min to an hour past your appt just to get into a room and then wait another 15-30 to see that doctor. They are inconsiderate and want to charge you extra lol- whatever

Don’t you worry about not bringing in a dime Bc a medical sales rep will be right there bringing you breakfast and lunch! Y’all are a joke

In private practice we charged $25 for no shows. We basically never collected, but it was a least a little bit of a deterrent.
The hospital I work for now does not charge a no show fee. I've had patients no show for 4 or 5 consecutive appointments. That is a spot I could have seen someone else. It makes me livid.
Charging someone who wants to reschedule is bad business.

I guarantee you’re the same dumbass that bitches and moans that you have to wait 6 weeks for an appointment with me.
I know you’re time is valuable to you. My time is valuable too. It’s valuable to me and every patient that needs to see me. When you no-show an appointment for whatever reason, you’re taking away another patient’s opportunity to see me in a timely fashion, because I try to squeeze people in who need to be seen urgently. I don’t charge you a no-show to recoup lost revenue. It’s a negative incentive to keep you from screwing the little old lady waiting 6 weeks to see me. I have to keep the lights on in my office and pay a staff and other shite like that. If you don’t like it, go somewhere else.

It’s pretty obvious to all us you missed your psychiatrist appt. You can go to any ER and check yourself in since you are obviously in need of your meds. It will be obvious to the staff what’s going on and they will take it from there. You will be able to see a psychiatrist very quickly, no wait!

Not if you have seen the margins and federal aid they had to receive to stay afloat. They need you to stay sick and keep coming.

I have no problem with this usually, my doctor will spend as much time with me as I want him to.
I want him to have all information to correctly treat me.
if you are so smart order your meds black market online and dont ever go to the doctor
what is your occupation out of curiosity?

The only ppl disagreeing and moaning and groaning over my comments are the ppl in the med field. Do you think you are the only industry that gets no shows and cancellations. Funny Bc I don’t recall my mechanic ever bitching about me not showing up for an oil change. Get over it. It happens in every industry, but y’all are the only industry that thinks y’all are good enough to charge for a cancellation or no show. Y’all are not - reality check!

Having someone cancel an appointment fricks the doctor, their staff, and other patients. if you cancel at the last minute, frick you, you get charged.

My Pops once had that happen to him. He paid it and rescheduled the appointment.
When the date for the new appointment came around, he showed up for it, and was told the doctor was not in the office that week due to a vacation. Pops came home and printed out a bill for the same amount the doc charged him for missing the appointment and mailed to the office.
The doc never paid, of course, but it was the principle. Pops found a new doc shortly thereafter.
