To all the doctors in the OT that think y’all are in demand and think y’all are higher than mighty and your sh** don’t stink....if you think you can charge patients $20, $50, or $100 for missing or canceling an appt - especially Bc of a unscheduled work meeting or whatever reason, y’all are ridiculous and out of control and can kiss my a**
I don’t care what kind or how much education you had- you are a dime a dozen. Know that!!
You are not in demand like you think you are!
Have a good day

This is the kind of melt I come to the OT for.

Speaking of my Pops, when he was fighting ALS, and going through all the terrible issues it brings, he found a few really great doctors. The neurologist who ultimately diagnosed him was an all day trip for an appointment. We would wait....and wait. However, that doctor took more legitimate time with his patients than any I have ever seen. He answered every question, and worked to make sure you understood everything.

We also had a great lung specialist who had in his office, displayed boldly at the receptionist counter, a sign that read, "If your wait is longer than 15 minutes, please let us know immediately."

Our wait was never longer than 15 minutes.

That’s the perfect response. You think a doctor is on the same level as a judge. That’s the mentality. Sorry but a doctor is not an authority like they think and most patients ya think they are. They may be an authority over prescribing meds or diagnosing whatever it is, but that’s the extent

Again- y’all take too many patients to begin with at a time to make more money. The patients suffers Bc they need to wait over their scheduled time, but the patient has no right to complain right? Get out of here.
Y’all mad

99.9999999% of the time the patient with attitude is the one that is going to pull 15 extra issues out of their arse once the doctor steps in the room.

...and people wonder why doctors run behind...

If the doctor doesn’t like hearing all the patients concerns, find another profession

Yeah I try to get the first appointment too..

I can see both sides. I've had to cancel at the last minute but always offer to pay my co-pay because it was my fault and try to reschedule. But I've also sat in the waiting room for way too long after my appointment time.

I’m sure it happens all the time to them and other industries. The difference is we drive to see the doctors, use our gas, our time. When one doesn’t show, another is right behind them. I’ve heard doctors welcome people not showing because they always overbook

The reason I’m replying to your half-wit rant is because you ain’t getting the point. You need the remedial explanation.

This isn’t my first career. People no-show all kinds of appointments, clearly. Do you sit at the auto-mechanic for the entirety of the time your mechanic is servicing you car? Do you have to take off work to drop off your car? Are there 800 people who are gonna need to drop their car off with your mechanic and sit there throughout the service appointment?

I generally give people a one-time no-charge no-show, unless they went out of their way not to show up. I know that shite comes up and things change. But the next time I see that patient, I make it a point to say that was a one-time thing. I also remember who cancels on me. The second time you’re paying because you didn’t get the message. If you call me and tell me something came up, then I can work with that and I’ll move you to later time or the next day, if I can. But every time I make an change to accommodate one patient’s schedule change, it affects every other patient negatively.

The world doesn’t revolve around you.

And half the time if you're just polite and apologetic, they won't make you pay anyway.

Reality check- they can’t make you pay for services not rendered. If they do, dispute it with your bank. It’s a BS charge and it’s a scare/bully tactic

You think the wait is long now, wait until we get Universal health care and doctors have a set salary. It will be like going to the DMV.

Just join the military, get hurt, and you too can experience the joy that is the VA.

You're not paying for services not rendered. You're paying liquidated damages for breaching the contract.
