She works as a buyer in the basement, by the morgue. She is getting dizzy like she is hyperventilating

Any lawyers around? If she refuses and loses her job, what recourse might she have?

Thanks in advance!

Just pull it up over her mouth when no one is looking.

Ask the hospital for an oxygen tank.

There’s no reason for her to not be able to breathe if she’s wearing it properly

She has no recourse. She's not fricking special so tell her to stop acting like it.

The biggest employee outbreak we had wasn't from clinical staff that treat patients. It was from the billing department located in the basement that thought because they weren't in a clinical setting they didn't need masks or distancing. They all ended up sick with two of them in the hospital.

Unless she has bad asthma or COPD she isn’t being affected physically by the mask. She may be working herself up emotionally to the point of hyperventilating but the mask isn’t causing her to not be able to breathe.

My wife went to her doctor three weeks ago and was asked to wear a mask. When they took her blood pressure after wearing the mask it was high. Then they suggested she take the mask off and wait a few minutes and when she took her blood pressure had dropped 30 points.

She may be getting too hot, especially if she’s moving around
Could she get a small fan for her desk / office?

ETA
Is a specific type of mask required?
She can maybe try different fabrics
Supposedly there are some made from swimsuit material that are breathable

I see this as the hospital putting its knee on your wife's neck.

If she is having to wear an N95 or other similar respirators I can understand why. Honestly, if people aren't uncomfortable trying to breathe in those for long periods of time it is probably because they aren't wearing them correctly and they aren't actually airtight like they should be. If she can get away with it she should just wear a surgical mask. I don't think anyone would ever have difficulty breathing with a surgical mask. They don't really do anything to protect the wearer but they help prevent spread from the wearer, which is pretty much the whole reason surgeons started wearing them.

I think a mask is not the biggest issue at hand.

Go to etsy and search tulle mask. There are a bunch of breathable mesh type ones on there. Or she can make one easily using tulle or lace fabric.

Try taking care of patients in a mask for twelve hours.

I work at a hospital and we never had to wear masks until now. Funny how that works. More people on the streets had masks then people working with at risk people.
