Or was it just media fear mongering also pushed by chicken littles on here causing panic buying? Meat industry sales must have been nuts.
Baws on here spending thousands to have a whole cow butchered

It's still expensive but not difficult to find.

That was just your college years.

Just a bunch of morons that were just starting to realize beef isn't cheap like it used to be. They remember paying $.99/lb for ground meat, now they pay $5.99 and think it's crazy (which it is) and there must be a shortage. They have no idea they can go to other grocery stores and find it cheaper, or wait and buy their beef from the same grocery store they always go to when it's cheaper b/c it's getting old.

That shite is still expensive AF. Paid $14 for 2lbs of ground beef yesterday. Kinda how the price of gas or diesel has never went below $2/gal after Katrina/Rita until recently. Panic induced inflation.

It was never about a shortage...it was about the cost

I work in Nebraska and haul from the beef plants frequently. They had massive outbreaks a couple of months ago, so they did the logical thing - shut down the plants, do a deep clean, let two weeks pass, test the employees and put the ones that test positive out on medical leave for a longer amount of time. Took a month to get the plants back online but they're mostly all back online now. It's not fear mongering - take off the tin foil hats, dummies.

Have you ever seen a feedlot? No way we would ever have a beef shortage.

Ground meat and brisket went up where I am. I didnt really see much of a difference on the west coast but I heard in Louisiana it was noticeable

Economics.
Supply shortages (caused by shutdowns in production due to virus, and panic buying) caused prices to increase. Increased prices caused people to buy less, as well as incentive both new market participants, and shut-down facilities to quickly clean up and re-open. Result is more beef hits the shelves. At the moment, prices are still high because of pent-up demand. But eventually, supply will remain high, and people won't buy as much, which will cause suppliers to lower prices to find a buyer.
This is the first week of Economics 101 at any decent university.
