Maverick's rejection of constructive criticism from a minority colleague while also assaulting him is an overt display of white privilege. Further, the fact that Maverick could have taken an effective shot at the Russian enemy and did not is indicative of collusion likely to steal a future election to further oppress the minority colleague.

No this was the polar opposite of racist because ordinarily the black actor is the first to die in the movie. Here Goose died before the black actor could get a chance to die.
