My friend was out walking her dog when it happened and she saw the smoke/dust plume.

I'm hearing from bruco (who posts here sometimes) there was a partial stop work order for a failure to maintain the building or something. So hopefully empty at the time.

Who knows, maybe they wanted this to happen so now they can put up a new building.

More reports...another friend saw them cutting away stucco yesterday from that building and thought the wood all looked rotten. I don't think stucco provides much structural support, but maybe even the added strain of scaffolding did it.
