How so? I read the article too so curious what you find flawed.

It’s like if I ask you if you ate that hamburger and you start telling me you didn’t mean to eat it or you really didn’t want to.

Now you might have good reasoning but you still ate it.

Well, duh... very few of their "fact checks" are supported by evidence...

It'd be interesting to see how Congress voted during the 20th century on major pieces of legislation to tell the story. That would be a good approach they should have considered rather than quotes from randoms

The article is like "yeah, the Democrats supported the civil war and the KKK, but that isn't us anymore, so it's okay."

bullshite. If names are getting taken down because they are related to oppression and racism, then Democrat should be at the top of that list.

You lost me here. I was just curious if you wanted to highlight anything to start a discussion since you are the OP

the KKK was the muscle for the Democratic Party. They knew exactly who they were and what they did. They were created because the large amount of blacks gaining power within the Republican Party.

since Nixon and the southern statergy there has been a flip on how the parites traditionaly lined up. Lee Atwater is on record about the Republican statergy to flip the former Democratic south to vote republican. Both of these parties could care less about the american's the represent so why do we spend so much time arguing about how one is better than the other.

Basically it said "even though it was mostly Democrats or also the Majority of Democrats, the Democrat Party denies ever being involved."

This some cancerous shite.

With that realignment, many racist voters who opposed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 left the Democratic Party to become Republicans.
This idea is the dumbest damned thing that anyone has come up with. Racist voters left the Democrat party, that supported the civil rights act, to support the Republican party, that showed more support for the act? That would be like if today, Republican voters opposed to gay marriages would switch party to Democrat because they didn't like a more tolerant Republican stance. It's nonsensical.

An inconvenient truth to this narrative is that the Republicans were gaining ground in the South as far back as the 1920s. Also, of the 21 DEMOCRAT senators who opposed the Civil Rights Act, only one switched to the Republican party. Those remaining 20 seats stayed Democrat for nearly 30 years.

This is just a bunch a bullshite peddled by the left to try and erase their history of racism.

Best part about this isn’t that they are making up bs to cover for today’s democrats.... it’s they felt the need to fact check random meme accounts because they’re worried it hurts Dems

Again, I think Congressional voting trends over the last century would be interesting and we would see the party label change at x point in time. I imagine the breaking out voting results by the senator's or rep's state would put both parties in the same boat for owning this

Edit: Owning this as being in the cross hairs of the cancel culture movement

Historians agree that although factions of the Democratic Party did majorly contribute to the Civil War's start and KKK's founding, it is inaccurate to say the party is responsible for either.

don't you love how they strip away all context in order to come to a statement that fits their narrative

Basically they are saying the "Democrat Party" didn't start the Civil War and found the KKK.

No, it was just some very Prominent Democrats not the whole party...

The USA Today's argument:

"Sure it walks like a Duck"

"Looks like a duck"

"Acts like a duck"

"Quacks like a duck"

But in reality it is a possum.
