setting up an MCU-style Star Wars universe

Okay...

that is set in between the original trilogy and the sequel trilogy.

Of course. Everything must involve stormtroopers, Skywalker family, Mandalorians, etc.

No more stories like KOTOR that take place 4000 years before the films. We must be confined to this one 50 year period for all major film/TV media.

So much for this big expansive universe...

Just posted right after you.

Short answer: no.

We must show people the same things over and over again.

The Mandalorian is a great show, but it essentially uses established lore as a crutch for everything it's doing.

I’ve watched his shows. I don’t care what he said in a interview.

And many don't. I get that. But seeing how things have played out SINCE he made those comments, it ruffled more than a few SW fans.

Dude gets Star Wars as much as Lucas.

That's debatable.
But even if he does, why mock fans and flaunt Jyn Erso, a solid, believable character all can root for , along with Rae Palpaine, and group them both as lead female characters and telling fans to " get over it ".

No none has a problem with Jyn Eros, what so ever. He's going out of his way to stick it to fans who have very real and legit gripes about Rae and her ridiculous Mary Sue powers.

This must be an exclusive club because Filoni is widely praised by the fandom.

Much too late. I mean, don't get me wrong, they are doing the right thing - but the fanbase and the value of the franchise is diminished compared to the good will they enjoyed before the last trilogy.

If they were smart they really should just go to another part of the galaxy and give us some different characters and stories. No more Deathstars, no more Skywalkers, no more Yodas. If this thing is supposed to be a franchise worth caring about give people undamaged characters and stories to care about.

Add Timothy Zahn to that list and they'd be good to go.

Correct.

Until his prior comments came to light.

Not just my opinion. It's widely discussed - see above linked videos.

Big Dick Dave Filoni gets Star Wars better than any person alive right now save for maybe George Lucas and Lawrence Kasdan.

The plot of The Clone Wars and the Mandalorian were very simple. He didn’t do anything innovative or complex with either. Why did they work? Because he didn’t have his head up his own arse. Go back and look at the original trilogy. They took Westerns/Samurai stories and put them in space. They gave you great CHARACTERS with simple stories in a new environment.

It’s not a science. It’s not complicated. It’s like cooking a steak. If you have a good cut of meat (a great universe to play with), then you have to actively frick it up for your audience not to enjoy it.

And Ahsoka is the best female character in the Star Wars Universe and probably the best original female character that the entertainment industry has come out with this millennium.

Meh. I dont want star wars to be like the MCU. I know Disney loves the money but I think the MCU style is going stale.

Holy shite. I lasted roughly 15 seconds watching that lady. She's like a combo of a drunk Housewife of the OC mixed with an internet troll.

I suffered through the video you posted which was about a minute of actual talk from Filoni and 11 minutes of someone telling me how I should feel about what he said. Also the 1 min of actual Filoni speech he quoted was without context and not even full statements. So you're mad Filoni went to a women's conference and tailored his comments to females in Star Wars?

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt because of what he did with the 7 seasons of Clone Wars, 4 Seasons of Rebels, and 1 season of Mandalorian. I can sit and watch him talk about Star Wars all day. He did an interview talking about the Prequel series and I so was enthralled that I wanted to go back and rewatch them to see what I missed.

Meanwhile Kathleen has done nothing to win me over. They don't belong in the same category.

Filoni is saying whatever he has to say to keep working on his masterpieces. Mark Hamill did the same thing. Hell beyond them, do you really think Leo gives a shite about global warming or liberal politics at all? Hell no. He cares about making $25 million a picture, fricking 20 year old blonde VS models, and chilling on a quiet beach somewhere. He said and did what he had to do to get the only thing he didn’t have (Oscar for best male lead) and couldn’t give less of a damn about Hollywood’s politics.

I actually posted two different videos. And yes, while most of the time isn’t filled with Filoni talking, but instead others responding to his comments, The fact that multiple fans have come to the same conclusion about his comments say some thing. His snide remark’s about fans getting over the fact that there are two lead female actors doesn’t look very well. Because if you’re selling Star Wars to women, why would you make it a big deal ?

Rae was a fricking Mary Sue, and trying to mock the fans by claiming they only didn’t like her because she was a woman is doubly insulting. So to cover his arse and Kathleen’s nonsense for the whole “the force is female“ agenda he’s going to accuse fans of dismissing Rae on the totally false premise that no one made.

OK, so he’s hamming it up for the gals at a women’s conference while twisting the knife into the fandom so he can make Kathleen look good? And the Disney franchise sound better to a bunch of old nags who probably don’t give two flips about SW or space wizards.. That’s super.

Its amazing they have these stories written for them and they actively screw things up. Can Kennedy, switch gears to KOTOR to give the timeline we all know a break, come back to it with Thrawn. Leave the politics out of it. The force is female is best left to a few shirts in the merchandise line. I have no problem with some girl power stuff for sale. That being said, don't frick up a story to fit that narrative. Plenty of female characters have been named that qe would all be happy to see on the big screen

KOTOR

I’m convinced Disney doesn’t want to do this because they’ll have to create all new characters that they’d have to hire numerous consulting firms to ensure are marketable and family-friendly, and would actually have to flex some creative muscle.

Exar Kun, Revan, and Bastila Shan all have great established backgrounds to build a movie/series on, but a lot of those stories are pretty dark and Disney probably doesn’t want to put up with a chunk of the fanbase being all pissy by deviating even in the slightest from those storylines.

I hope they eventually get to it, but it’s clear they believe all the the money is still in sticking to the Skywalker era.
