how are they going to nuke us when we destroy their while navy in under 30 minutes. I think you are underestimating how large our navy is compared to the rest of the world.

China does not want to get into a war with us. It would be over pretty quick and the death toll would be startling.

Our navy is the best in the world - no question. China has been building up their navy for a while now.

We need to keep investing in ours.

Didn't they build a bunch of islands as a buffer with ship killing missile capabilities of hundreds of miles?

Islands don't move around too well. Submarine launched ballistic missiles do. Those are just targets.

That said, I'd be nervous as frick if I was on the first cruiser that has to approach them after the SLBM attack. All it takes is one surviving launch site to kill a ship from a thousand miles away.

They call it mutually assured destruction for a reason. Nobody is itching to get into a nuclear war. Or really even referring to nuclear capabilities, for that matter.

That said, it’s pretty difficult to “overstate” America’s nuclear might.

Have they even gotten to the point yet where their navy could move troops more than a few hundred mile and be able to support them properly once there?

We would be able to stop anything China threw at us...... they would have ZERO chance against us........ZERO.

And they know it. Look at what a North Korea is trying to cook up by bombing some buildings in the south. We would blow that country off the map IF we were provoked.

Those capabilities have been vastly overstated. They still have to guide them to target. How are they going to do that? That's the weak link in the chain. (And where we'll defeat them). Besides, they're useless against subs. We'll have a cadre of Virginia Class subs parked of Hong Kong loaded with cruise missiles.

My biggest fear is the Chinese disrupting our electronic infrastructure via hackers. I'll just have to hope our hackers are better.

Additionally, China has a geography problem. The best they could hope to do in such a conflict is force a stalemate. They cannot (physically) project power past their borders. Would they ever be able to approach our coastlines? No. (And God pity them when the Cajun navy shows up off California...

We have the best Antimissile countermeasure systems in the world. Especially in our naval inventory: Lasers, CWS, Standard Missile, as well as Offensive electronics in AEGIS and the EA-18 Growler

We are entering a new Cold War. And we are much weaker now than we were when competing against the Soviets. I don’t know when people will wake up to the fact that China is the number one threat to democratic countries everywhere. I’m guessing the majority of Americans never will, and it ends with the USA becoming a shithole while China enslaves the rest of the world.

I once witnessed the Ronald Reagan leaving port in San Diego. My vantage point was the park at the top of Point Loma. It was a majestic sight.

This is just the US surface fleet that everyone can see. Imagine what all's sitting under the water off Hong Kong.
