What’s going on with LSU’s lack of scholarships?

I’ve heard from more than one person recently that LSU has been super stingy with scholarships for deserving students. Spoke to someone yesterday who had a 32 ACT and they only offered a measly few bucks. Meanwhile Alabama is giving out money like its growing on trees.

Because they can get in on TOPS...no need to offer a LA student a scholarship...that's their way of thinking

are they an in state student? if so thats why. LSU sees kids get tops so they recruit out of state places like texas the hardest.

Yeah I got a really nice package as an out of state student in 2008.

1. TOPS. Add the value of TOPS andthe couple of extra bucks to an out of state scholarship and I bet they're of comparative value
2. LSU doesn't really have that much money outside of specific project funding because the state has no economy.

F. King felt they were saving Louisiana by pushing the best and brightest to go to college out of state while bringing in people from out of state. The best instate scholarships go to people connected to powerful legislators.

Once all fees and tuition is paid then any excess is distributed back to the student.
LSU didn’t offer me shite.

But even with TOPs, a student will still have room/board, books to pay for?

LSU thinks that because of TOPS and it’s name that it has the pick of the litter for instate students. For high-performers, other state’s schools will recruit and roll out the red carpet for them. LSU acts like they don’t care, but will move heaven and earth for a kid with a similar score from Texas.
Short version: LSU is run by idiots.

It’s been bad for several years now.
Highly qualified catholic school kids down her me have been basically laughing at LSUs pitiful scholarships and are going out of state. Alabama has been the preferred landing spot
Some of my friends who I never would have wanted their kids to go there became big fans of the school when the finances were laid out comparing the two schools.

It's apparently LSU's strategy to attract enough instate TOPS tuition payers to meet their budget needs, and to not care much about the brightest in our own state. No meaningful scholarship help from LSU was the reason my child went elsewhere when father, uncle, and grandfather were all LSU alums.

For in state, with scores that high, why would it make sense to go to Alabama?
Posted on 6/7/20 at 9:38 pm to TJG210
LSU wants that out of state tuition to pay for the lazy river
