Currently packing up everything to move to a new place tomorrow. Excited for the new house and all, but damn if the actual move isn’t the worst experience. It’s amazing how much crap one can accumulate without realizing it.

Edit: we have movers coming tomorrow, so I’m just referring to the packing of things. Although moving yourself is much worse, I can attest to that.

I hate it but I know people that move every few years. When I was young and single it wasn't quite as bad but our last move was miserable and it was only like 10 miles.

I think we'll probably move one more time but I hope it's my last.

Not when you are excited about where you are headed.

I'm moving in a couple of months. Planning to have movers do most of the heavy lifting.

Yes, having to sift through the ashes of a burned down house. Or shovel all your flood soaked belongings to a pile at the road

We’ve moved quite a bit over the years.

What I’ve learned is to rent a dumpster for a week and place it in the driveway. Then we go through the entire home ..... “pack it, donate it, or dump it”.

It helps with minimizing the accumulation of crap. It also puts you on a timeline since you know exactly when the dumpster is being picked up.

It costs about $600 but it’s worth every penny in the big scheme of things.

Just my 2 cents.

Good luck with your move.

A survey a few years ago showed that people dreaded long distance moving more than anything except public speaking. People literally dreaded moving more than dying.

One would think the appliances, beds and furniture would be the worst thing to move by yourself, but it was boxing up and moving the small parts of life that was accumulated that can't be let go of that is the biggest pain in the butt.

The big stuff was the easiest to move,a Tommylift on a truck and a dolly gets er done, piss anting that little crap sucks.
