NBA expected to shorten season to 70 games, 5 more games per team

The NBA is considering shortening the 19-20 regular season to 70 games with play resuming in July. Teams have played approximately 65 games apiece before the season was suspended. The potential solutions are “fluid,” one source said. Playing an additional five regular season games would give playoff contenders an opportunity to play for seeding, while lottery teams would also participate. If the pandemic doesn't allow the NBA to resume play in July, a relaunch in August is in play with the possibility of instead going straight into the playoffs.

The east 1-8 is set; milwaukee is locked in 1st

I am totally fine, it gives teams an opportunity to gain some sort of rythym back. While also giving any team just outside the bubble a chance to fight for that 8 seed.

What a stupid arse idea.
I hope the pelicans And every other team not making the playoffs show up with their g-league team, even the coaches.
Either start the playoffs now, or have some kind of tournament for the 7 and 8 seed, or just the 8 seed. Teams with nothing to play for won’t play with this dumb idea.

If they are only playing 5 more games for the purposes of regional network contracts, then the playoff teams are both conferences are set.
Memphis has 32 wins and that puts them 2-3 games ahead of all comers for 8th spot in the west. They’d have to lose 4 or 5 games not to make it at this point.

How about you just play a tournament, crown a champion and move on to next year. There will always be an * next to this champion, might as well have fun with it and give the non contenders something to come back for.

Considering how long the NBA Playoffs usually are will they just take a couple of days off and then roll right into the 2020-2021 season?
