I guess it does approach a continuous flow
I used to wish Ben McDonald and sometimes even Rollins would stop saying “less than two outs” at least once per game. Now I wouldn’t care if they ended every sentence with a preposition if I could just watch baseball.

I get paid while at jury duty. I’m cool with this.

Texas has jury trials for EVERYTHING. Even traffic tickets. In my 7 years living here, I’ve had jury duty one time and it lasted 1 hour before the whole venire was released bc the case settled.

i do kind of wish LA would stop being pussies and give jury trials for all MISD offenses

I'd gladly serve on a jury more often if it meant fewer frivolous lawsuits in this state. I've been a registered voter for 24 years and have never been called. I did get a jury questionnaire in the mail during the Corona shutdown though.

start with a 2-year prescriptive period. pretty much everyone agrees with this so it should be easy to pass
then we can see if rates go down in a few years. if they do, move onto the next policy
So pretty much we’ll all be retired by the time any real change is made. Super.

You know what's wild and ridiculous? A $100k demand letter for a fender bender where no one went to a hospital until three weeks later after meeting with a lawyer.
Been dealing with one of these for almost two years. Wife tapped a car at a red light. That car tapped one in front of it. Two dudes in 3rd car, never identified themselves, nor exchanged info, and left the scene before police arrived. Filed amended crash report two days later and lawyered up. I didn't even know you could do that.
Seeking $100k each. USAA handling for my wife. USAA knows its BS but did repaint their bumper for $400. Plaintiffs' lawyer claiming "egg shell" status based on shyster Drs involved.
Deposition questions were total BS, too. i.e., When was the last time you had an eye exam? My wife refused to answer most, on USAA lawyer's advice, because we had already acknowledged fault for vehicle damages.
I hope the scum sucking lawyer and sleaze bag Drs choke on the next steak they buy with frivolous lawsuit $$$ or that their family members get sued, too.
USAA has already offered them about $25k each but they're holding out for the max.

I'll gladly go do my duty if it means lower insurance and less frivolous bullshite personal injury lawsuits. This state is a cesspool of personal injury attorneys and insurance agents getting rich off bums riding around looking for a wreck check.

You believe jury trials are not important? They are vitally important regardless of the amount of a case.
The reason the trial bar wants a high threshold for jury trials is because judges strong arm settlements.
They do not want to have to stand up before a jury explaining why they need to be in a courtroom for three days on a soft tissue rear end case with a plaintiff living her best life on Facebook before being told by the lawyer “no more social media.”

I don’t know much about the actually mechanics of PI work but I can tell you, my father backed into someone at less than 5mph in New Orleans parking lot out front a hotel on Canal.
State Farm said it was cheaper to settle in Louisiana. The woman got $75k off his insurance.
Something is seriously wrong with this state and the problem is finding good faith actors/brokers to enact change. Both sides have their hands out.

When did insurance companies start to share settlement information with their insured?

How are you connected to the system to be able to make such a statement?

I’ve been a resident of Louisiana and registered voter in this state for 11 years.
I’ve been called once and wasn’t needed.

When my father brought his own attorney to the suit I suppose. He was named in the suit. Wouldn’t they disclose such info? I also think as a policy holder being sued you’d have access to that info.
Posted on 5/18/20 at 9:20 am to DiamondDog
Not usually. They don’t share settlement demands or offers, either.

I think the $1000 dollars a year less for auto insurance will make up for the jury duty.

When I tapped someone in 1992 my agent told me they settled for $1,800.
